Hello friends,

Are OTC Natural Menopause relief products such as (MENOQUIL, ESTROVIN, or MENSTIUM) effective and safe for relieving ADT side effects such as hot flashes, night sweats, etc? Thanks for your thoughts and insights.

There is a thread on here where people were saying magnesium helps…. My urologist gave me a venlafaxine (antidepressant that also helps with hot flashes) at the same time he gave me the biopsy results. I truly believed that it has kept my mood up throughout this hard fight! And, it keeps my hot flashes to minimum / manageable.

Estradiol patches did the trick for me, been using them for years, Snuffy Myers prescribed them for me back when I was first dx.

mskcc.org/cancer-care/integ... My MO recommended Black Cohash. It seems to help with hot flashes. Some studies show efficacy, see above link.

I have had female patients who used these. The only way to answer your question is to try for yourself and see.

EDBARWhat strength Estradiol patch were you prescribed and how often did you change them? What was your target goal for your estradiol reading? I read between 12-30 is desired to help with hot flashes, bone loss and mood.

I have yet to find a Dr. in my area that will give me a prescription for the patches.

I don't know much about what you are calling "natural" products; I assume by that term that you are meaning non-Rx, over-the-counter products. Which means that they are notoriously unreliable in terms of strength, quality control, etc. Guess you can just try one after another to see if any work for you. My MO gave me a Rx for DepoProvera, which is a birth control product. Using for ADT side effects is an off-label use, but it sure has worked impressively for me! After 3 1/2 yrs on Lupron, I am finally sleeping again! And I rarely notice hot flashes during day anymore. See if your doc will prescribe it!
