Prostrate awareness

Hi fellow warriors. As an over 1 year apca survivor, I wanted to ask the group what I can do to “give back” as I thought of conducting my own prostrate awareness table show to meet men to make them aware of prostrate cancer and what their psa score is. I prefer to do this myself vs prostrate organizations that have too many rules and regulations. Thoughts and ideas are welcomed. Thank you!

Stay strong.

First thought: It is "prostate" cancer, not "prostrate".

Interesting idea. I'm not sure more/earlier PSA tests are productive. I believe the current thinking is that they lead to unnecessary treatment of PCa that should be dealt with via AS.

Most men, and I certainly include myself, rush into RPs, as they're frantic to have the cancer cut out. I had no clue how deeply I'd mourn the loss of potency and any capacity to enjoy sex with another person for the rest of my life, and the horrific effect it would have on my relationship with my wife, now my roommate with whom I share backrubs.

true....but do you think most men are aware of prostate cancer and even know their PSA score?

PSA tests are part of routine physicals, starting at a certain age.

Very sorry to hear that. Please keep your chin up. The most bizarre things imaginable happen vis-a-vis this disease.

Those are some impressive runs past and future. Your encouraging me to up my game on my bike. Do you still work ? I will have to retire to take on more than I am doing now. I saw a documentary on the Wales run (at least I think it was). If its the one I am thinking of it was beautiful and really difficult. Good luck.

I love your support of ProstateCancerUK. I hope you will consider supporting Malecare (the founder and facilitator of this community), too.

Hi. Have you figured out how you will “give back?” Are you interested in helping Malecare?

Hi. After successfully raising donations of over $8K with my son for another non profit organization, yes, We, “Benders on Blades” are interested in giving back with another fundraiser for malecare. Your organization has been most helpful to me and others as we each go thru our personal journey. I am thinking of another roller blade event in the summer or fall of this year snd will keep you posted. Let’s touch base again in the summer, in hoping the COVID pandemic subsided. Stay strong!
