Well, I got the regular PET/CT scan canceled and had Axium scan put in it's place. Now that one too is out the window and a NaF18 scan is in it's place. MO seems to think it is a better scan for bone mets. Is this right??
Told to wait till later in the year for F18-DCFPyl. scan to be available on west coast. I told the lab to put me in line for it and they replied that they will be notifying all their scan ordering Physicians when it is available from them.

The Pyl scan is by far the scan of choice now that it’s been FDA approved. It will do the best job of identifying mets. You’ll need a PSA of at least 0.5 for good resolution
No problem with PSA of 0.5 or more. Was 0.54 last check up 83% from a month earlier. If it takes them a year to get it out and available and all else remains the same with this steep climb, it will be 760 next June. Hope we can level out the climb and find and fix the problem before them. (The doubling time over the last 6 mo. has been 25 days.)
You can probably get a GA68 Pet-PSMA scan at UCLA with little wait. It’s about equally effective as the Pyl scan. Prior to FDA approval they were charging about $2,800. Now that it’s approved insurance may cover it.
That’s pure bs amigo . Please don’t wait a year .with a rising PSA? I was told “ see ya once a year “ if I decided to drop the tak?? There is no way that I’d drop adt then not test for a year. That’s ludicrous. Good luck shooter!
The NaF has a high risk of false positives because areas of bone remodeling (like arthritis, fractures, and infections) can show up. You can wait for Pylarify or you can get Ga-68-PSMA-11 now at UCLA or UCSF.
It did light up with some small flares from arthritis and wear and tear, but the big spotlight was in the pelvic area where nothing showed before. Just one.... Hope maybe I can zap it into submission.
