Folfox chemotherapy: no result after 3 sessions and low platelets

I know that the chemo my father is receiving is not common as it is normally used for colorectal cancer, but I am asking in case anyone has some advice. My father started folfox chemotherapy a month ago, with an infusion every two weeks. After 3 infusions, his psa keeps going up: 150 to 220 to 250 and alkaline phosphates remain high, around 200. Now his platelets are down to 60, which make chemo dangerous. I am very worried about what will come next. Any advice would be welcome.

I knew a patient who had a good result with Mitoxantrone, an older kind of chemo used pre-docetaxel. By "good," I mean it helped relieve pain and he felt better - it did not extend survival. But a comparative study suggests that prednisone alone may provide equal relief:

Thanks Tall_Allen. I just read the article. Not much hope.

Honvan. It will save his life. Docs won't acknowledge it. But it works.
