One week & a day after first Lu-177 Injection. Life in the Prairie.

Dr. Luke's has been amazing. My first injection(Lu-177) was done on Monday April 26th at approximately noon. I've had scans and evaluations almost every day since the treatment...and the staff is so amazing I can't over state it. I've been feeling very well, all things considered. I noticed some shortness of breath(possibly due to being almost 1000 feet above sea level from our usual 0 feet above in South Florida) ....also a slight bit of nausea. Much less side effects than generally felt with chemo. My next injection is 7 weeks away and before it I will receive another PSMA pet Scan.

The people in Omaha are very friendly and nice. Coming from South Florida it's like taking a time machine and going back to the U.S. that I remember as a child. Everyone speaks so beautifully and there's none of the "tower of Babel" feeling I get in the crazy melting pot of South Florida. I still miss our house and my baby, Sparky. I think he will be coming up with me when I get a chance to go back down for a visit. I have acclimated to the temperature difference....it was 49 degrees this morning driving to the Dr's Office. Back home it's already in the 90's every day with 1000 percent humidity.

Dr. Luke and his staff....Emily, Kathy, Angela, Shelby, etc are all GREAT. It still feels like a miracle that I am here. Just one month ago...as I was planning on a trip to Israel to get the treatment....it wasn't even a "dream". Life is Beautiful. Pic is me...all dressed on our way to the Doctor's yesterday for my one week from start date visit.

P.S. Richard is doing very well. We're enjoying the gym, hot tub and pool at our extended stay suites....

Looking great John (oh I get it). Glad this has been such a good experience for you. When will you have an idea of the success of the treatment? I foresee no other outcome and wishing you well, but being w/o your Sparky must be tough.

Yes.. he is missed. I guess I will know how I’m doing after they do my next PSMA pet scan Just before my next treatment in approximately seven weeks.

If that was me I would start feeling almost normal until week 6 and then the anxiety would kick in. I will look forward to your follow-up.

The full effect of PSMA Lutetium treatment will first be seen several weeks after two or three treatments have been completed. That’s my experience after ten such treatments during the last 4-5 years.

I have the same shoes. Real easy on the feat. LOL

With the neuropathy I have in my feet, I find most sketchers very comfortable these are particularly comfortable. But I do love my croc flip-flops.... Comfort, at this point, is everything!

I also cannot seem to wear them out. Buying another but blue this time.

I gotta get me a pair of each of those shoes. Go for comfort ! Agreed..

Thanks for the update on you and the country. Your "tower" insight is intriguing. I encourage you to journal. Living life from the ever present PCa waiting room can offer a humbling window view of the world, allowing us to either graciously or venomously come to terms with morality. This disease gives us new eyes from which to see our day. At least that part of this journey can be a gift.

I feel as though most days I am seeing things from a rarefied environment. People around me seems so inconsequential with the things they find important. It’s somewhat difficult for me to relate to their petty traumas. The disease and the treatments and the side effects have made me much more patient most of the time and calm. Since I don’t feel as though I have control I find it easier to relax.

Wonderful news. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy central USA, it really is nice..my time in Kansas City (both KAN and MO) was really fun.. So different than college towns I was living in at the time in the south west and Calif..

It is like the exact opposite of where we come from. It seems to run so smoothly and organized. The city itself and Dr. Luke’s office and every restaurant we’ve been in so far.

Got to agree. Treated almost like a returning friend instead of a new comer.

This is great news. I had mine done in Germany and am curious what dosage they started you out with and what they project the next dose to be. You made the right choice. Thanks.

I hope and pray that your results match your experience so far. I lived in S Dakota for two years followed by 5 in Miami and now in NY. Midwesterners in general very sincere and cordial. Still keep in touch with a few since the mid 70’s. All the best.
