Nobody gets a free pass

On the faithful day when your Oncologist comes into the exam room with a big clipboard full of papers and announces you have "Terminal Prostate Cancer" in the months and years that follow that meeting, never lose sight of what was said...Today, they can keep you going for a very long time but sooner or later the Grim Reaper always wins.. Fortunately for most of us, the word "Terminal" is never spoken ..We live to die from something else,, But for the "Advanced" group that can be found posting on this board most of us have drawn the short straw..

And? Yes I'm going to die. I'm 70 and should have been killed 50 years ago. I have had numerous friends who are already dead. I've been playing with house money for half a century. Be grateful for everyday and face the end head on.

I hope you don't mind me stealing the 'playing with house money' phrase, it's great.

Take it and run

👍

Read your previous post. I understand you have been through a lot of treatments and you don't have many options left.

Keep going as long as you can..leave with the tank on E. Godspeed.

Fairwind.....there are some guys on another forum asking about you....at least someone with the same name/moniker.

Nothing can prepare you for the way

I feel be you flesh and bones or Man of Steel

The strongest of faith

Start to reel

When the doc walks in

And says heres the deal

Your heart drops your

Vision dims,are you

Really hearing him

Life turns on a dime

Like being sentenced

To death but you

Commited no crime..

I stared out the window unable to speak....

Doc said something about aggresive cancer

Removing proststate..not the answer

They would turn me into a gelding..

Maybe 5 years is what i understood

After i had my little pity party

Got a second opinion...

Then the fun started

Been 18 mos

Side effects suck

Lupron and a double blind trial

I Dont sit around

And i always smile

Can still get it kinda up

Just takes awhile

For all of you guys in the same boat

Remember that even the guys in the white coats

Have a expiration date....we just found out that ours is just little more flexible...

Bw

The little men in their little white coats are coming to take us away , ha , ha . Boy wonder you’re poet, but none of us are longfellows anymore . The flesh is now proven weak. Let our humanity rise high ..

A short straw a twisted fate indeed. We are tested to see how much we can endure .. my Mormon friend , that has suffered more than anyone else that I’ve known , says that his faith teaches him that by handling suffering well

He will be rewarded in the next life . I like this thinking. For us #4’s getting the short straw makes each and everyday that

Much more valuable.. pluck the day , before it plucks us all.. let the fairwinds blow at your back and the sun shine on your face today .. everyday past dx I feel like Charley Sheen “Winning” going out with a smile on my face entering a realm with no more pain and suffering . Doesn’t sound bad . That’s my hope . Strengthen our spirit while here.
