Zytiga and Covid Vaccine.

I am reading that despite no study, the overall opinion of researchers is the vaccine will be less effective on a person undergoing any active cancer treatment. Does anyone have any reliable data. I am putting off the vaccine.

I think it is too general a statement to suppose the vaccine will be less effective on a person undergoing any active cancer treatment... perhaps the vaccine MIGHT be less effective on SOME persons undergoing CERTAIN active cancer treatments?

A crucial reason to avoid it would not just be some undefined reduction in effectiveness, but rather any potential to cause actual harm. I suspect there are some patients that should avoid vaccines, and that would be highly individual to the state of their immune systems and the specifics of their cancers and treatments.

Whatever further input you get on this forum, be sure to get the opinions of all the doctors involved in your care. They will know better than we if there is something specific to you that gives good reason to avoid the vaccine. I just got my second dose, and never gave it a thought that standard ADT would be any reason to not do it. I think if there were good reasons not to do so, in general, they would have already have turned up on this forum... but I'm sure they will turn up very soon, below, if any such reasons exist!

No, no, no. That's for cancer patients who have compromised immune systems. (read CDC guidance) Unless you do for some reason, get your shot(s)!

I just got my vaccine shots during chemotherapy. Yes, it is likely to be less effective for me because my white blood counts are reduced by the chemo. However 1) "less effective" does not mean "ineffective". I expect the vaccine to give me at least some protection from the virus, and 2) As a cancer patient you really don't want to catch a severe case of Covid, and a partially effective vaccine should still help reduce the severity of disease if you do catch Covid.

I have received both shots. My MO encouraged me and I couldn't find a good reason not to. I had no issues but my wife thats not on ADT was norlt so lucky.

I would highly recommend getting the vaccine - far too risky NOT to - risk / benefit analysis points to protecting yourself vs. vague / questionable information that is contra ....

I had COVID so I am only getting the first shot. Apparently COVID antibodies+single vaccine= equals better protection than both shots

I am not a doctor (but as you all know I do look handsome in a white coat) and I got my two shots and for some weird reason I can now watch pay for view tv when I pay.....

My doctor told me to get the vaccine. He said that my immune system was compromised and if I got the covid virus that I would be in serious trouble. So I got the vaccine.

My husband and I got the virus. He is currently doing chemo. I was very sick and he had hardly any symptoms. Go figure!
