British Scientists Accidentally Made a Breakthrough and May Have Found a cure for Cancer

I noticed this article yesterday.

I had not seen this article previously and I don't know if anyone has any further information to offer on this new discovery. The article reads as follows:

British scientists have accidentally discovered a new type of cell that kills most cancers. The new discovery could be a huge breakthrough in the search for a universal cure for cancer, writes British newspaper The Telegraph.

Cardiff University researchers analyzed a blood bank trying to find white blood cells in it. Instead, they discovered a whole new kind of T-cell, which carries a never-before-seen receptor which acts like a grappling hook, latching on to most human cancers, while ignoring healthy cells, The Telegraph reports.

In laboratory conditions, immune cells equipped with the new receptor, have been able to kill cancer cells from multiple organs, including lungs, blood, bones, and kidneys.

According to Professor Andrew Sewell, head of the study, and cell type expert at Cardiff Medical University, this finding could be used for the creation of an universal cure for many cancers.

"This is a very motivating find; no one knew that such cells exist at all," he told the newspaper.

"There's a chance here to treat every patient," researcher Prof Andrew Sewell told the BBC.

He added: "Previously nobody believed this could be possible.

"Cancer-targeting via MR1-restricted T-cells is an exciting new frontier - it raises the prospect of a 'one-size-fits-all' cancer treatment; a single type of T-cell that could be capable of destroying many different types of cancers across the population."

Therapies that create specific white blood cells or other immune cells to fight cancer exist, but have never been used for anything other than medicine for some types of leukemia. They also do not work against the larger tumors that most cancers cause.

Not only can the new cell treat different types of cancer in the future, but it can also be transmitted via the bloodstream, which means it can easily be spread as a mass medicine.

I just hope that this proves to have legs. Clinical trials will be years away but this is a game changer if it pans out. Apparently worked for prostate cancer cells also (in the lab).

( Clinical Trials Will Be Years Away) says it all, if we ever see it at all?

Forgive me for being a pessimist but if they find a cure their "Cancer Cure industry" would be ruined.

Hey Aries29!

A link to an article about Goldman Sachs' advice in 2018 to their bio tech clients when Hep - C cures were not only eliminating the existing patient base -- but also--as those with Hep - C were cured, they no longer infected other people perpetuating the possibility of long, term, income, generating treatments for a never ending patient population! At least they were honest!

Copy everything between the lines to access the article.

That came out early 2020. Think it’s exciting. The discovery is part of this company’s studies now of which the professor as affiliated. enarabio.com. Lots of study elsewhere that is building on MR1.

I see not very many positive progress reports with prostate on the tippens site. Often the good reports have SOC built in so who knows. Other cancer types report more apparent success. Care Oncology clinic use a similar molecule in their protocol - mebendazole- and have seen early positive signs in Glioblastoma though all of the above is far from ph3 trial activity.

This could be very good news if those of us in stage 4 live long enough to get this new immune therapy. The link to BBC article is

Happy reading folks.

Those thinking pigs will fly out their arses before this becomes a reality need to get ready for this event by using patented balloons to insert into bowel and gradually expand the size to allow porkers to not wreck essential body items in the way out.

But those who merely expect porkers to become capable of flight over head need only buy a suitable hat while outside to avoid porker poo spoiling their day.

We have regular flocks of flying porkers oinking loudly as they fly around Parliament house right after some dullard Polly Tishan makes a statement about doing something to get elected, but never ever actually doing the said thing to benefit voters.

If the therapy mentioned by BBC was trialled, and it got truly fabulous results, it could become available without full approval, kinda like Lu177, which still does not have approval here in Australia or USA. But I am allowed to get unapproved therapies for Pca if I fail with chemo. Hence Theranostics Australia was allowed to start their business to administer Lu177 in 2015 in Australia.

Rainy weather, just when I feel like getting back on bike after a bit of a sore back ache episode.

Amen Patrick. Was kind of disappointed to read the abundance of naysayer responses to this positive news. It may be a few years away or may turn out to be a red herring, but I doubt we’d be getting so many negative responses if Professor Sewell was also posting on this site. I bet he has a whole different take on the possibility of a successful breakthrough. I don’t believe in false hope but I’ll take this as good news for now. Hang in there for sunny days and good riding. 🌈💪👍

Recovering in Cabo after spine surgery in Monterey 2 weeks ago. Weather is perfect, sunny and warm. Like Prescott in the Summer (but with an ocean). You know I am coming to see you next month on our RV trip don’t you? Can’t bring my Africa Twin as my healing spine makes that too dicey. But will have our ebikes. We are in Point of Rocks campground April 10-11. Need to plan how to connect. 🐕‍🦺👍🏼

How’s the covid scene in Cabo? We hope to be down there next year . ? Recover well . Heal up ,eat some fresh fish and we shall see you soon . Anytime . We cant wait . Safe travels . Bien viaje! April sounds fantastic . 🏜

This appears to be the latest published paper on this work. It looks like there's a long way to go on using this as a Cancer treatment.

The burgeoning role of MR1-restricted T-cells in infection, cancer and autoimmune disease

Highlights

MR1 is an evolutionarily conserved antigen presentation platform.

MR1 presents endogenous and bacterial metabolite ligands to T-cells.

Recent data shows MR1-restricted T-cells may play important roles in cancer.

The conserved nature of MR1 may allow pan-population therapies for many diseases.

MR1 is a ubiquitously expressed, monomorphic antigen presenting molecule that has been largely preserved throughout mammalian evolution. The primary role of MR1 is to present conserved microbial metabolites to highly abundant mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells. The role of MAIT cells and other MR1-restricted T cells (MR1T) has been recently extended to immunomodulation during cancer. MR1Ts have also been implicated in autoimmune disease. The highly conserved nature of MR1 across the human population is in stark contrast to the MHC molecules recognised by conventional αβ T-cells, therefore MR1Ts may form fertile ground for the development of pan-population T-cell immunotherapeutics for a wide range of important morbidities.

Wtf? I’m #4 on the list? Seriously , I appreciate you . You’re a generous spirit . 💪

Before and after pics. Nobody wants to see that .

I thought that I was king of the 80’s ..

Now look at me? My wife’s old friend was shown a pic of me in my prime . She looked at my wife and said “ What happened”? I screamed pc got me .

Like “ you’re #1 “ Like in the Beverly hillbillies ? Everyone was flipping Jethro the bird while he drove the truck around Beverly Hills. He said “ I’m #1 “ 😂

He is Tall and handsome . Two good looking smart men .

I’m two decades behind you but at least we had our time at the top of the heap with many years of living well .I really feel for the young men in their 40’s afflicted with this disease. . We had plenty of fun . I pray for the young families 🙏Shalom

You’ve lead a fascinating life my friend . Much love to Mary❤️

We can say that we enjoyed life and didn’t fear living.. therefor we shall not fear death either . That’s the spirit . Our physical life is only in the present.. our spiritual life is eternal .. if we can only forget and forgive everything then we are free ..

Yes I got wind of this when looking at immunotherapy and there are three you tube videos - one with the professor and his fellow that discovered it - I think I will email his department and ask when human trials are available as they made the discovery a year ago and results in Petri dishes and mice with human DNA were excellent - I hope that the thought of curing all cancers in all people using the bodies own T cells and amount of money some major pharma company will make will spur them on ! - The T cell latches to MR1 on all cells to read the content of all cells and is told if the cell is internally damaged and needs destroying , apparently cancer cells camouflage themselves if they did not our T cells are easily capable of deleting these cells as they do this 24/7 I understand we all have MR1 parts to our cells regardless of race creed or colour so to speak - I hope that human trials are soon and that the results are just as good .
