Hi! My father had 4 round of docetaxal before abiraterone. Diagnosed in 2017, PSA 944 Gl 9. Had ADT till summer 2020. In August started Docetaxal. PSA was 205. Month before treatment he developped severe bone pain, appetite loss and started to look

kachestic . But after first infusion his morale, appetite improved. And pain was gone. After 2nd round started to lose hair (grew back few month later) and actually didn`t had any side effects. But had to stop after 4 rounds bcause Psa start to go up.

Now i think it was probably better to make 2 more rounds of it.

After 4 rounds, my PSA started back up. Added xtandi and PSA plummeted. After 9 cycles, side effects were intolerable. Xtandi continued at 1/2 dose after terrible side effects. PSA now climbing through 0.15. Hoping it will go back down...

Hi, I had 15 Taxotere sessions in 2015. I fasted two days before each sessions and in my case, was spared the bulk of symptoms. Hit a PSA nadir of 0.1 from 840.2 in the Summer of 2017. Jan 2020, started Abiraterone, and that failed after about 9 months. MO added Xtandi and the PSA kept rising. Probably the PCa (Prostate Cancer) had already mutated to thriving on low T.

MO agreed to do a rechallenge with Taxotere, six years after the first round.

Just had my 3rd of 6 chemos and PSA had dropped from 9.6 to 5.8. Was expecting a larger decrease, but oh well - C'est la vie! I'm still happy about a drop.

Also fasting two days prior and so far, only hair loss :-).

Fight on

That’s great well could you please explain how exactly you fast ? What kind of fast it was and what did you eat or drink during the fast?

Hi, I do a daily IF(Intermittent Fast) from 9pm and then I break fast at 1pm the next day. During both fasts, I have black coffee and sip on a tomato, curry, garlic, veggie broth with a spoonful of Garden of Life Perfect Foodamazon.com/Garden-Life-Whol...

Fight on, Randy! Quick question - what made you choose a Taxotere rechallenge instead of moving on to another chemo...? Is it PSA increase without scan confirmation of progression...? I'm moving in the same direction and inquiring minds wanna know! Thanks. - Joe M.

I sent the Kaiser MO the research and I asked about Cabazitaxel and she wanted to try Taxotere again since the round of 15 that I had was in 2015. Told a dental patient that I had to refumigate for pests again :-)

PSA went up even on Xtandi. Axumin scan last Fall showed two new hot spots - 1 cm pelvic lymph nodes

Pests indeed, Doc! Sorry about the hot spots (boo), but you are right: Time to clean the pool! :) Thanks again for the information on your latest taxoid tour!

Hi I did: abiraterone then HighT clinical trial, then Xtandi and then Docetaxel. The docetaxel certainly helped bring my PSA down for awhile and then it kind of held steady for a bit before creeping up again. It was important for me and slowed things down quite a bit - but didn’t last as long as I would of liked for it to

Okay thank you

Hi, my father had the same. What did they offer you after ?

I have not had abiraterone, but since you are looking for positive stories - I had Taxotere 4 years ago, and my cancer has been in remission since then. The Taxotere plus radiation of abdominal lymph nodes was my response to my second recurrence after prostatectomy in 2006. For my body, Taxotere was tolerated better than Lupron.

Nomin,

Not sure if I’ll lift you up but here goes. Initial 4+3=7 in 2014. Did RP followed bey 36 fractions of radiation to the prostate bed. Started zyriga which failed in 4 months did 25 fractions of radiation to Belly area, then 6 LU177 infusions that failed after 3 months, then did 8 rounds of taxatere lasted about 5 months and now doing 8 rounds of Jevtana. So lots of treatments with nothing coming close to getting me to non-detectable.

But I lead a fairly normal life do for 2.5 mile walks daily, so try and get exercise ,as it helps get through the treatments.

Have you explored the option ac225 perhaps it may work for you

Jackpine profile image
Jackpine in reply to Nirman

Norman,

I have been considering ac225. I see my MO next week for new scans so we’ll discuss then. I do get depressed some days from all the treatments but then I look at the beauty in the world and it’s worth fighting for. Stay strong!!!

Had liver metastasis, four rounds of docetaxal shrank them down to almost nothing. A new one has popped up I going back on docetaxal. Be sure that your white cell count is closely monitored if you go on it. FYI cannabis mostly mitigated post infusion (usually 2 days after) side effects. Good luck!
