Prostate Cancer

I have been Dx with stage 4 Prostate Cancer and have moved in backbones. And started treatment. Bicalutamide/ Lupron/Reclast, now going to Abiraterone/ Pred.... I am concerned about taking Pred for a long period.. I had a second option at UCLA Medical Center, and they suggested I do Apalutamide or Enzalutamide. I would like to hear from anyone who has had these other drugs and results... I am with Kaiser and wonder ??

You needn't worry about the prednisone taken with abiraterone. It is only a replacement dose because abiraterone prevents your adrenal glands from producing cortisol. It is not enough to create side effects of its own.

There is a reason to prefer Zytiga over Xtandi as the next hormonal agent.

That's a low dose of pregnisone. It will only replace what abiratorone takes out of you. I was on it 3 1/2 years.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I did take much higher dosage in 2004. Try asking this question to your medical oncologist, “Doc, if you were me and presented with my cancer numbers, what would you do?”
