Vitamin D3 -PCa & Covid. Additional studies revealed 9 of 10 COVID patients deaths could have been prevented with 20,000 to 60,000 units

D3 is really good.

"Additional studies also revealed nine out of 10 COVID-19 deaths could have been prevented if people had adequate Vitamin D levels, the FOX 26 report said."

"Dr. Pete Osborne told FOX 26 - So if you're hospitalized for COVID, they're automatically putting you on between 20,000 and 60,000 units of Vitamin D. This is part of their standard of care protocol in that hospital system ."

"With vitamin D, there's a therapy that can be done that I recommend, and it's 1,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D per pound. So if you're 100 pounds, you would take 100,000 international units of vitamin D for three days. After that, you don't have to keep taking those higher doses, but three days of high dose vitamin D will elevate your serum vitamin D levels to adequate levels," Osborne explained."

I've been taking 10,000 D3 with K daily for over 2 years. My blood level is around 70 to 80... Dr. said anything under 120 is normal range for beach goers and outdoors people.

Don't know why mention of high dose Vit D and its positive effect on PCa...breaks some peoples hearts. Vit D3+K2 in high doses with levels between 50 to 100 ng/ml is clearly beneficial...its as clear as daylight .

Below is a study :

I am unclear, not on the D3, but on the addition of K2. How does it help?

If VIt D3 is used alone in high doses like 4000 IU per day...it can cause increase in serum Calcium level and rather than depositing in bones..this extra calcium goes and gets deposited in aorta and other large vessels ..causing calcium deposits in these places which is not good for heart health.K-2 is added to prevent this calcium deposition in wrong place. So, Vit D3+K2 is the right supplement to take.

In other words, Vit K2 pushes the calcium in bones and stops Calcium from going in soft tissues of heart and Kidneys.

Worth adding, sufficient magnesium is also important (but easier to get from diet than K2).

I understand vitamin D is beneficial, even essential. But your headline is not accurate. The 20,000 to 60,000 is the treatment dose for those admitted with low/insufficient levels. Not the dose everyone should take. You, Nal & I wouldn't need that mega dose because we are already in good shape with higher D levels.

Which one of the two D3 blood tests results you quoted, i.e. the 25OH or the 1.25OH ? The first one has a higher max value regarding normal range and a half life of more than 2 weeks. The latter is lower in both respects.

Wow that is a lot of vitamin D.

And a blood level greater than 100 is considered out of range.

Fox is not the most reliable source for medical information. They tend to cater to those with non-evidence based bias.

If you remember they were great promotors of chloroquine as a Covid treatment. A lot of people hurt themselves following their lead on that treatment.

Do you have any clinical trial evidence supporting this type of Vitamin D dosing and results regarding Covid?

Adequate vitamin D levels are irrefutably helpful with Covid. Without real world evidence of 90 percent effectiveness of such super dosing, I would be dubious of such claims of extreme efficacy.

Faith based medicine kills. Evidence based medicine cures. Which is it?

Hmmm

Here is the real protocol

They are surging high doses of vitamin D if you are hospitalized with Covid.

But it is part of a much greater combination therapy with much more potent medications.

These same folks recommend 1000 to 3000 units of Vitamin D as a prophylactic.

And these guys are the vitamin happy extremists of the medical community. They are not generally accepted standard of care.

For example they are using off label ivermectin as part of their treatment protocol.

NIH recommends that ivermectin use be limited to clinical trials.

Ivermectin is almost certainly way more potent than vitamin D. It is only about 50 percent effective according to preprint studies.

That's real good.
