Nothing in your profile. No one can answer that without more info. What is his situation - diagnosis? treatments?

Hi there. We are brand new to the site so not sure how to do a profile yet. Frank is 86 and extremely healthy with a history of a bad heart. His Biopsy was five years ago and his PSA was rising fairly slowly until the past year. Other than that, I’ll say he is the cutest sweetest most darling man on earth!

So he is now 86, and was diagnosed 5 yrs ago with a GS 3+4 and PSA has been over 10 and is rising rapidly. You may want to fill out the following form. It shows his odds of dying from prostate cancer or other causes if he does nothing.webcore.mskcc.org/survey/su...

Was the reason he didn't receive hormone therapy because of his bad heart? If so, why is it being considered now? Finasteride has fewer cardiac side effects than other therapies. He can also consider bicalutamide.

If his doctor is worried about the effects of HT on the heart, another option is just to treat pain when it arises with spot radiation.

The survey was REALLY helpful.

He might just be fine with Bicalutamide 50 mg a day. Almost zero adverse effect on heart.

Agree with comments of others - 50mg of Bicalutamide and 10mg of Tamoxifen reduced my PSA from 64.7 to <.002 in 8 months with no side effects.

Amazing ! Thanks for telling this. I am on Bicalutamide 50 mg /day and Finasteride 5 mg/day. PSA dropped from 3.1 to 0.3 in 8 weeks (90.3% decline) Prostate is intact. Hoping to repeat performance like Magnus and You ...pray for me...please.

If he is otherwise fit and active, I would be cautious when considering taking the ADT path. It will probably reduce his PSA, but it will come at a cost. That cost will be in his quality of life, as Eligard will take his testosterone and he will likely become weak and tired. If his PCa is contained, maybe living with PCa is an option. I'm 59 and I have been on Eligard for 11 months now. Everything seems to be an effort for me these days. All the best Amy, 😎DD.
