HT/ADT "Brain fog"

Last thing I need, so started 20 mg methylphenidate about a year ago with great results. Clear head, snappy reasoning from roughly 0500-1100 before the cotton reoccupied my skull. Sharp now 'til late afternoon since starting the BIRM.

Isn't Ritalin what they give overactive children to turn them into walking zombies? And it works to improve brain fog?

Very interesting.

Crabcrushe in reply toITCandy

Yep. Yep, and yep; gotta wedge in the "for me, anyway". With 20 mg I get roughly 4 hours of "clarity".

I was watching a naturopathic children's Doctor on TV discussing the problems with dosing up kids with Ritalin and he said that studies showed giving them L-Theanine instead made a noticeable improvement in their behaviour without harming them. This would have gone right out the other ear but I recall Nalakrats discussing his involvement in bringing the product to market years ago.

We gave it to one of our boys, who was 8 at the time and his focus and concentration noticeably improved to the point that we considered the problem resolved.

I take Bacopa daily along with L-Theanine to overcome brain fog and I feel alert and quick witted most of the day.

That's when I time the Ashwaganda to kick in.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe you can give me a little help here!!! Where / who acknowleged your Brain Fog enough to treat it? Your Urologist? A Shrink?!!!

I’m embarised by how much I bitch and whine about it but I am more afraid of living the way I am than actually dying!!! All day / every day with the worst hangover of my life (just the head part (with out the fun part)), depleted cognitive ability, memory is toasted, etc........ I swear that my Uroligist simple just take my word for it that I have it. Claims that it will pass when I stop my Eligard treatments, but admittedly, doesn’t know alot about it!!!

I digress!!!

I read alot, from apearantly very inteligent, experianced people on this site but (because of the above) I can’t follow it well. Links are lengthy and confusing to me!!

Summary

In simple terms, the “BRIM” is Ridalin? I have coached kids on Ridalin and they were as sharp as a bag of full of bowling balls! I am not it’s friend!!! You’re saying it has the oppisite effect on you?!!! I don’t know to what extent your BF effected you, but got me fired and even “I” don’t trust things that I do!!! I can deal with being stupid, but not this constant mental dullness!! Did it fix that much?

Regards

First place, bro: Reach down between your legs and grab your balls. Stand up and fight like a man. This ain't DOA, nor is it communicable. Focus your attention on the stinking crab.

I got methylphenidate when I told my support Dr. to prescribe. Tis is my fight, and she is SUPPORT.

BIRM is an Ecuadorian tincture Nalakrats posted about: it's a dandy. GOOOOOOGLE it...

Don't mean to sound short or snotty, but you and me don't have time to snivel; we're getting flanked.

Love ya. Get pissed at the disease. Kill it.

With more humor than malise;

Reach down grab your balls, and fight like a man?!!!

F&$#ing phenomenal!! Kind of makes you the catcher on the boxing team?!!!!! Thanks for the laugh!!!!

Might grab your balls depending on how street it gets!!!!! Whatever it takes....right?!!!!!

Despite your unwarranted attempt to belittle me, I do thank you for your original lead regarding the use of Ritalin for brain fog.

I already googled it and I have hopes that it will help me to return to work.

Keep the faith

"Chemically similar to cocaine, the short-term side effects of Ritalin include “nervousness, agitation, anxiety, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, palpitations, headache, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and psychosis".

Do you really think that adding Ritalin to the mix will help your situation? I don't have the answers but there must be something out there that can help without adding this long list of side effects to the issues that you are already dealing with.

Putting "brain fog" into the search box on this site comes up with several good conversations on the topic that may help.

Best wishes.

Those are potential SE's, right? All I get is the old hydraulic purr of snappy clarity.

Caveat was, "for me".

Its the very last thing I WANT to do!!! and with the side effects I got from Eligard, I would likely get all the SE's you listed. Bit as Crusher says in his disclaimer "for me" I won't know until I try.

I do know that resuming work with even a portion of those is out of the question. Heavy construction and cocaine don't mix. I got fired for being stupid, can't go back a different stupid!!!! I read that people had these complaints and reduced the dosage with varying success.

Thanks for your comments / help.

Be careful, bro. I had brain fog so pea soup thick for 4 mo's leading up to my stroke my Wife was afraid I had Altzheimer's. I'd make a " no, it's Partzheimer" joke and blow it off, and bloop! Right half of my body deflated.

nothing' to mess around with.

Still check my BP occasionally.

The BIRM will surprise you with the energy if it works for you as it does for me, as well as Ashwaganda and Holy Basil and milk thistle and others . You can subscribe on most of these supps on Amazon.

How long have you been on Eligard?

Jimhoy profile image
Jimhoy in reply toCrabcrushe

I got a lot of reading to do.. I don't want to badger you with questions, okay, just one.... all that stuff at once, or they are equals to each other.

Started bicalutamide July 17 and Eligard in August 17, started seeing the confusion in Nov 17, stopped the Bical........, Progressively worsened, adding cognitive decline to a debilitating level by June 18. My 18mo's were up last week. QoL break started. They are still talking 6 to 12 for it to wean out of my system.

They're telling me to wait it out.....I'm not a sit home kind of guy!!

Looking for any different tack to get back into it!!! But if it's not meant to be, then so be, I'll wait!!

Man, I can't explain it other than I was leaning over my tool box with a speed square in my hand and not remembering what I was fixing to use it for and got pissed off enough to sit at the kitchen table and rack my brain 'til I came up with Ritalin as a possible solution. Nalakrans, bless his heart, and Greatjohn clued me to the BRIM benefits, and my Wife ordered the Ashwaganda. I swallow my whole daily dose of BIRM in the AM, first thing, and take two Ritalin with coffee, pray a while then stretch.

I'm smooth 'til lunch, then take 2 Ashwaganda/3 Holy Basil.

It's 4:35, and was sharp until tea. (3:20).

Exercise/hydration is key, as well.

Thanks for your service.

Been called a lot of things but Never been call that!!! Well, maybe in jest!!!

After reading your earlier post, I’ll be completely honest, you’ll get it!!!! I have some major certification that have expired and I have about used up the grace period!!! It’s your speed square thing only with Crane Rigging, Scaffolding and my Construction Superviser License for starters. I need my brain back to re-certify!! Tic tock, tic tock...... yup, grasping at straws!!!!! To start from scrach would absolutely SUCK out loud!!!!!

I already reached out to my PcP and my Url about the Ritalin and am now starting to locate the rest!! If it works, fanfuckingtastic!! If not, well nothing ventured, nothing gained!!!

Thanks again

I neglected to mention the 1000 mg packetful of lyphospheric vitamin C I started concurrently with BIRM. IMO, it's a huge contributor to combat, maybe as a force multiplier; haven't discussed with Krats, yet.

I saw that in a 2yo post when surfing the subject!!

Reached out to Nalakrats for an update. He got back to me that he is moreso using it for PSA with 30 other suppliments. Or, that’s what I read into it anyway!!! Like I said....I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed lately!!!! The jury is still out for him!!!

Found Greatjohn’s 3mo old post which not only reinforced your claim but went beyond only with no reference to Ritalin. Reached out to him who claims it’s still working to date! Good signs!

If the Ritalin f’s with me too much, it’s good to hear that some have had sucess with just the BiRM!!!
