Testosterone therapy & COVID-19

New study - video link below,

Earlier, we heard that men on ADT were somehow protected from Covid-related mortality.

It had also been reported that women were more protected than men.

So that fit with the literature that had found that men with normal high testosterone had a weaker immune response than women. Such men fail to respond to the flu shot, for instance. And the stronger immune response in women leads to more auto-immune disease.

So what about men on testosterone replacement therapy [TRT]? There are some in this group & I have T at about 1,000 ng/dL right now (it will be back to <20 ng/dL soon, as part ofmy BAT therapy.)

Well, first it must be pointed out that many doctors aim for >350 ng/dL but not the high levels of young age. But the study showed that there were no differences in the outcomes of men with Covid on TRT & controls with Covid not on TRT.

Amarnath Rambhatla does not say how T levels differed between the TRT cases & controls.

So, for what it's worth:

Could you describe the mechanics of your BAT therapy? I am looking into finding a Doctor that would prescribe that for me somewhere close to my home in Wyoming I have read and watched some of the Videos. I would like to know the specifics , like requirements for using the BAT protocol and the products used. If you would prefer it in private message that would work for me. or if you would rather not, no worries.

Regards

I read an Italian or Spanish report about this some months ago. Out of 850 men on Hormone therapy, none had been critically ill with Covid. I’ve been on it for near on 18 months. Back in April my wife was very poorly with the virus. I expected the worst for myself as I’d certainly been in normal close contact with her during her incubation period. Thankfully and amazingly I suffered just a couple of days with a sore throat.

Thanks!

Note: "Mean testosterone (IQR) level for those on TRT was 397 (212.5-454.75) ng/dl."

With the cutoff for hypogonadism being 350 ng/dL, a range of 212.5-454.75 ng/dL hardly puts the men in as much risk as young men in the 650-950 ng/dL normal-high range.
