Anyone who had Mets on back have to get lumbar spine MRI for encroachment - wondering what that means. Does MRI on spine only show that or will other organs show up?
Spine MRI: Anyone who had Mets on back... - Advanced Prostate...
Spine MRI
I get a complete spinal MRI every 6 months and reading the radiology results, no organs are mentioned.
Did u have Mets to spine and if so what did u take and are they gone
I have had a met on my L5 vertebrate for nearly six years. I had it radiated two years ago. It remains stable with no growth.
Yes my dad has it there too
If my L5 takes a turn for the worse, I'm going to have it fused to my S1 (top bone of the sacrum)
How long for ur results and do u have Mets any where else
It takes the University of Michigan cancer center 2,3 days to post the results on my patient portal. My L5 met is the only one they can find although I suspect I have smaller mets on my skeletal system.
Now my dad has prostate cancer 5 years ago Gleason 9 no Mets in remission after IMRT and Lupron recent biochemical reoccurrence bc psa was 2.89 so he went and Axumin pet scan - is it odd for Mets to come after three years or is that normal - doesn’t mean it’s spreading rapidly - he currently has three possible four
In May 2004, I had mets at T-3 and L-2. They were resolved with chemotherapy. I lived in fear of spinal column collapse and being paralyzed until my medical oncologist assured me to not worry. Although the structure was weakened, if I did not lift heavy weights, I would be ok.
Managed my mets with frequent nuclear bone scans paired with sift tissue CT scans...... over the years I have had 24.
Even with new bone growth once the metastatic lesions were resolved, the areas will remain weakened. In 2016, I lifted a heavy suitcase and turned..... I heard an audible crack..... headed fine..... my point is to not lift heavy items. Take care when exercising. I went to a personal trainer, explained my situation, and she designed exercises that would not stress my spine. Life is good.

I have MRI chest/abdomen along with CT and C-11 choline every four months. I have spine and ribs mets that are dormant. A few years ago when spine/rib mets were active I had several rounds of cryoablasion at Mayo. Worked good.
My oncologist referred my MRI to a surgeon it was so dicey. I went to Bangkok and had radioligand therapy. Three treatments and my PSA went from 993. 41 to 0.14 and my scan showed zero Mets. I'm in total remission but forfeited a huge chunk of my retirement savings - but what is your life and quality of life worth?
It is worth a ton
Is Axumin pet scan more sensitive to detecting prostate cancer than MRI on spine
