Hello. My husband began Xtandi on June 8 th and discontinued it on July 17. He stopped treatment on July 17. He stopped due to PSA rising dramatically. He had been having leg numbness and weakness also. Trouble getting out of chairs. Weakness in his legs. Started using a walker in the house due to not trusting his legs. But we did not realize these were Xtandi side effects.
My question is do these leg weakness problems go away once you stop Xtandi and how long does it take or are these problems permanent.

If the symptoms were caused by the anti androgen in general they could improve after stopping the medicine. It may take a while one or more weeks. depending on the symptoms . Lost of muscle strength due to sarcopenia and weight gain (sarcopenic obesity) may take more time and it may need special care with exercise and diet indicated by professionals.
Then when one feels better one could restart treatment at a lower dose and see what happens.
You should discuss what to do with his MO. He should know if it is possible to stop the anti androgen, and what type of care he will need to improve his muscle weakness, if it is cause by sarcopenia.
My dad is having the same issue and his doctor brush it off as orthostatic hypertension? I called the makers of xtandi and they said yes in the clinical trials they looked about 10% of patients suffered same issue what r u doing I told my dad to stop taking the xtandi
PSA rising ??? you did not say where it started and by how much....My PSA has bounced from 1.5 to 8 and back down to 4 for 18 months but Xtandi still working...3 negative Axumin PETS...His leg weakness should go away if Xtandi is the only underlying reason for condition....Be very mindful of reading drug side effects...what does you OC tell you. I am not saying this is not the cause but when you read side effects they scare the crap out of you...they keep talking of seizures on Xtandi however the fine print clarifies that it is mostly attributed to brain cancer and former seizure patients....I maintain a commercial pilots rating on Xtandi.....10% is a real number to understand I would go to my OC with this and get his input........
Just make sure he's not a Furnituretripper.... watch him around the house.... my balance sucks....I'm like a Whirling Dervish.... Caution, Caution, Caution.....
My husband has the same leg weakness issues as yours. It started with Xtandi and we had to halve the dose to tolerate the leg and fall issues. He had an episode where he seemed to have a small seizure and fell while we were shopping. He had never had seizures before. Xtandi crosses the blood brain barrier while some other newer meds don’t.
These leg weakness problems continue today through the following year while on Zytiga full dose. He is getting in home physical therapy now.
