Hi just wondering if anyone has developed diabetes due to ADT?

ADT and diabetes
Yes I have developed diabetes after 12 months of ADT
Yep, it’s a common thing. My bg randomly destabilizes now and then too . Currently working on a fresh one that just started . I fix it ... it’s good for a few months then suddenly changes and I have to readjust my meds all over again ...both up and down. Not a big deal if you keep your eye on things.
.Been on ADT for five years. My latest A1C was 5.7. I work hard on keeping that number down.
Worth noting that many effects of ADT, perhaps including this one at least in part, are due not directly to low-T levels but to lower levels of estrogen that ALSO result from ADT. So adding back some E2 may be worth considering...
Nat the way you pose the question supposes ADT can cause diabetes outright.
ADT doesn’t cause diabetes but it will help you get there. Genetics and luck play a part, but your physical condition when you start ADT combined with lifestyle are big.
Basically you can’t get away with much, so to speak. Those of us who are overweight and/or have other negative markers (elevated blood sugar, blood pressure, HDL cholesterol etc) and fail to act are headed for trouble. We’re old too, which obviously doesn’t help any of it.
If we don’t exercise often and eat clean on ADT we are accelerating toward metabolic syndrome in general, of which diabetes is only a part.
Intervention with diet and exercise on ADT is SO important. Sure drugs can help, but no drug is a substitute for lifestyle change.
Type 2 diabetes ,like any disease, is something that’s infinitely better to avoid than to treat.
My blood sugar started going up due to zytiga...HbA1c went up to 6.2 and after stopping zytiga, it came down to 5.8 within 6 weeks. I never had high blood sugar in my life before.
Also, zytiga caused increase in blood pressure too.
