The point of Zytiga is to stop production of all steroid hormones south of pregnenolone & progesterone. Might an estradiol patch thwart the intent of blocking DHT production from all paths? I don't believe so. Aromatisation of T to E2 cannot be reversed - or so they say. See:

You can mitigate side effects of ADT therapy with estradiol patches. But an estradiol monotherapy cannot replace Zytiga, at least nobody tried that yet.

I do not think fatigue is a side effect that can be mitigated with estradiol patches. Exercise is usually recommended and I also recommend that. Also Ginseng may help:

There is a big clinical trial in the UK testing whether estrogen patches can replace Lupron. There are no comparison tests of estrogen replacing Lupron+Zytiga. Estrogen may relieve hot flashes, and may help one retain lean body mass, I never heard it helps with fatigue.

Hi TA, I asked my MO about the estradiol patch and she said there’s an increase in the chance of a stroke. Is that one of the possible side effects? Thanks

Increase in clotting.

About 25 years ago estrogen tablets (DES) were used to treat prostate cancer. This was successfull against cancer but there were significant cardiovascular risks. These risks will be much lower when estradiol patches or gels are used, i.e. no tablets. So your MO is right when she is refering to tablets, which are no longer available. However, patches are different.

I’m in willing to try Tongkai Ali Root, Or ‘Long Jack? Never heard of those supplements.

Nalakrats I am still searching for an ND type doctor. I’ve tried within 100 miles of Ft Wayne. Next will try 150 mikes that should include Indianapolis, Detroit, maybe Cleveland or Chicago.

Not done looking for specialized Naturopathic help.

Are Integrative medical professionals in the same category?

I’ve been using estrogen patches for about 5 years now, they help a lot with hot flashes, which I used to get hourly and they were pretty intense. But they don’t seem to do much for fatigue caused by Lupron and Xtandi.

The patches remove all the side effects of Lupron but gynecomastia is a problem. The patches are also much safer for your bones than Lupron.

Low dose estrogen patch has cut way back on bad Lupron hot flashes for me. I sleep better now, which has helped with fatigue, but still low on stamina.
