Decipher

Anyone have experience with the Decipher genetics program, it’s’ effectiveness and related cost?

They have two- one based on biopsy for men on active surveillance; the other based on whole-mount prostate tissue for men on the fence about salvage radiation. It doesn't appear that you fall into either category. It is expensive (about $4000) if you just feel like knowing for no useful reason. What decision are you trying to make?

The OP had primary radiation, so I doubt Medicare would approve it.

Appears Decipher is not appropriate if one has completed radiation treatment? You used the term OP in a recent response. What is that an abbreviation for - don't understand all the terms yet.

That is correct that Decipher is not valid if you've already had primary or salvage radiation. It is only used post-biopsy for men considering active surveillance, or post-prostatectomy for men considering salvage radiation. It is an aid to decision-making.

I had the test done. They wanted 4000 for the test but I talked to a company representative before the test and locked in a price of 100.00 dollars. Later on the representative informed me the company was changing to a charge based on income.

I had it done after biopsy which came back at .9 which is crazy high and then after my RP which came back at .41 which is low risk. So much less anxiety now even with a gleason 9 and T3b grade. Insurance covered 1/2 and they are working with me on the other portion now.

I had it done post prostatectomy and mine was high risk. That said, my doctors treat it simply as another piece of information to consider with regard to treatment. They DO NOT use the DECIHER GRID in treatment decision making. What do your doctors tell you about your new, lower DECIHER? Has it changed anything for you, other than peace of mind?

no they treat my cancer as a G-9 and t3b and decided to simply watch the PSA. But he did say maybe less aggressive might be something to consider going forward. My 6 week PSA came back (last friday) as undetectable which they were all surprised by and said lets run it in 6 weeks and see if it reaches 0.1 first and then do radiation and lupron. So for once I am in the good minority because he told me most men with my numbers are 0.1 or higher as a first PSA.

I decided to also do this RGCC "Greek test" and therapy because I thought it could not hurt.

I live in Sarasota 1/2 the year and Milwaukee the other 1/2 and I like to seek out options vs. just standard carpet bombing. Now once I need it I will do it but all of this holistic stuff also can ONLY help. So I found this MD who is holistic based

So after my initial diagnosis I am doing the IST protocol whereby my T cells receive a boost to fight off the free floating remaining PC cells.
