So ... is everyone self-quarantined and tucked in their bed?

I'm guessing we are marked for death by Covid-19 -- me anyway -- old, diabetic, prostate cancer, hypertension. That's a lot of immuno-suppression.

My preferred scenario was that would be able to get around, inspire shit-tons of sympathy and love.

I'm staying in. A few friends don't get it. I have to treat them like the big bad wolf when they come to my door.

Part of me would love to let them in and hug them to bits. But ,,, I dasn't!

You are doing what everyone is supposed to do in such times. DoNot forget to walk around inside your bedroom and living room. Movement is necessary to prevent thrombus and clots and keeps circulation good.

Good advice. I remain pretty mobile. I take my dog Lucy for two 1/2-mile walks every day. ad do patrol my first-floor space!

Hi Cisco...good to hear from you. My doctor just called me and told me to self quarantine...said that my 56 year old body on chemotherapy equals a high risk of death should I contract the dreaded Coronavirus. I guess I’ll suck it up and do what he says, no sense in fighting this disease for years and then loosing the battle to an invisible virus.

Smart thing to do.

I've been forced to stay inside and work on projects that I enjoy. Oh well. Trying to make the best of the situation.

Any good telescope viewing lately? I'm working on my gardening projects. Still hammering on😺

in reply to Fanger1

Haven't done any this year yet, but hope to when it warms up and the weather is less cloudy. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to manage to 250 pound telescope and climb a ladder all night. I always get help setting it up though so its not too bad.

Save your newspapers for toilet paper. Try to use the comics, it will give your bottom side a little enjoyment since it is always in the hole.🍸🍸🤠

Or install a bum washer hose/gun like we have here in Thailand. Home Depot and Lowe's sell the kit for about $50...takes five minutes to install. Could never conceive of having another bowel movement without it!

Me too, but after >20 years of using one, the only thing I fear about being away from home is toilet paper...it feels like 80grit sandpaper.

I loaded up with my favorite IPAs from Tree House Brewery (treehousebrew.com/), just hours before they closed for SARS-CoV-2!

One place going to avoid is Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the place is like Grand Central Station, NYC, makes me depressed to see so many cancer patients cramped in the waiting hallways for blood draws... 😔

Smart all hard booze gone from BevMo and everywhere else ...

in reply to

Yeah that 151 proof grain alcohol AKA moonshine can be used to make hand sanitizer. The 91% alcohol from Walgreens or Walmart is impossible to come by. Don't know why all the other hard booze would be gone other than to launch an apocalypse now bender.

There was a recent post on this site that mentioned the Chinese requisitioning a bunch for that purpose. I did some research and I might be able to get some from India if it is not out of stock.

billyboy3 profile image
billyboy3 in reply to Cisco99

me too, I am not a lover of our head coach nor QB, so in this era of the players running the show, would probably want to go somewhere that I would have a chance to win the big prize.

I hope that you are doing ok, know it is beyond words how tough it is, can only suggest keeping stoned when the pain arrives.

Life up here in Edmonton, Alberta is now slowing down lots, as this virus implodes our entire society. I only go out now to get food etc. wear a mask and gloves but the reality is we are not prepared nor trained in how to go about living in this kind of shut down for any period of time.

I have been ill for the past month, stopped midstream my last round of drugs, as my immune system just imploded, so not sure how much more time I have as my desire to keep fighting is also going downhill like a speeding train.

So, keep touching base, and if you get to the other side before me, send me a note so that I know which place you ended up going to, haha. I am wondering where I will end up, add up the good and bad and shake my head at how this could be calculated. If one lives, one makes mistakes, and sadly, some cannot be undone. On the other hand, my life long volunteer work has helped out many so a guessing game at best.

Live large, live well, and love those close to you, for all else matters little. Piling up a gold on your chest will not go with you, so hmmm.

later Cis!

I'm not staying in, and in bed, and I just cycled 60km across town to a cafe called the Little Istanbul where I was the only customer. Now the coffee IS GOOD, and better than 2 other cafes with more ppl because they cater for white ppl. I dunno how long cafes will be allowed to stay open, or if they'll just close because ppl will just stay away, frightened of each other.

The strange reaction so far has been buying up of all toilet paper, a whole trolley full. I guess ppl are feeling pissed off, and got the shits about so many things, so, they are fulla shit........

Or else they saw a site online with a tasty recipe for cooking toilet paper.

But I saw a picture of a queue outside a gun shop in US where ppl are trying to make sure that when law and order breaks down they'll be ready for gang warfare even in genteel suburbs with nice houses and lawns and in tree-lined streets.

They might need sheets of steel to cover front doors, bars on windows....

So far, there is such a little amount of Covid19 here that I don't have to worry. Seems like it kills about 1% of those who get it, mainly ppl over 60 with poor health. So if we all are going to get it at some time, then those over 60 with poor health have 50% chance of being killed by it.

The "Spanish Flu" killed about 5% of those who got it.

Anyway, maybe because my heart lung condition is so good, I may survive Covid19, when I get it. Its not a case of if I get it.

I live alone, and very very few ppl ever visit me. Sometimes I go weeks without talking to anyone, so at 72, it seems I have little of any interest to others and its all due to the vast majority who insist they are gonna do things their way, and they like to never be scrutinized by anyone, and like to insist they make a range of mistakes about lifestyle that I would never have made.

Seriously though, it would be a bad time to be having chemo now with immune system not able to respond.

I've forgotten what hugs are, I get none, give none, and I get by remarkably well without any love from or to anybody. I don't need it. Nice if it was there, but it just ain't, so I just suck it up.

My worry now is that Covid19 may delay future Pca treatments, may delay me seeing doctors, and I don't know how it all will work out.

Let us hope Covid19 does not mutate to become more virulent, or more easily transmitted. Patrick Turner.

I have been living alone since 2014, when the last boarder moved out to find her own place after 11 years. The dear lady was 51, and had so many problems with living life the best she could have done was to share a house with me for that time. She was a good tennant. But after 2014, my fortunes changed and I didn't need the extra dough and she summoned up the courage to find a place of her own she could rent - at twice what she'd been paying me. I am catergorised in some category or other, I dunno which one and I DGAF.

But anyway, I have been self isolated for countless years, and don't have sniffling germy grandkids to look after, or a wife who gets one wog after another from the office job, so I have not had a flu or cold for many years. I figure if I cycle across town on non congested cycle paths and roads there is tiny possibility of picking up any virus.

I just bought usd $70.00 worth of groceries that weighed almost too much to carry back to car, enough for maybe 2 weeks. I eat well. Shelves still had much food on them at the local shop, but there's another that I also go to which was cleaned out of toilet paper and canned foods and much else.

Our Prime Minister came on air at 10am moments ago with message "Stop hoarding!" He explained why, and when he does that he always gets very vague, which gives nobody any confidence.

There are many ppl who have unavoidable daily contact with many others in their families at home, group houses, at work, and kids at schools cannot "self isolate" .

I have met many ppl who are scared to hell about Covid19, and they must keep living while they can and self isolation is almost impossible.

The pandemic is yet to get real bad here, so most ppl are turning up for work; they need the money, so they just have to ignore self isolation.

If I am dead in 6 months, so be it.

I don't have total control over what Lady Destiny doles out to me.

I keep a hand written journal of my life, but it only serves to get me to focus on the possible for the day, or week ahead, or how I feel or think about a few things.

Its going to get the prize for being the most un-readable book ever written.

I get next Psa within a week, I have Lucrin shot tomorrow, and I continue cycling around. Gotta fix the mower, mow grass, because little bit of summer rain has grass all a foot high now. Always stuff to do. Talk to more doctors over next month....

Hello Cisco99, first of all Happy St. Patrick's Day......I lost a dear friend to melanoma this time of year and I brought a six pack of Guinness to the hospice where she was at.....I don't think she had any interest in it, but I hope that one of the staff or her family enjoyed it.

I just looked at a few of your previous postings as I was not familiar with your situation. just tell me if this is dumb, but do you have a first floor window and you could have your friends stand outside and you and they can talk to each other on your cell phones but be separated by glass? (kind of like a jail visit....) If that is dumb, sorry.

I wish you and your family only the best....I have a meditation form that includes the phrase "May you be healthy and whole to whatever degree possible".....maybe change that to "peaceful and comfortable".....oh and by the way, spring does start this week, so if you have a window that looks east and there is sunshine it is cool to see the sun appear to rise directly in the east.....all my best.....I will raise a toast to you tonight when my husband and I are having dinner.

Morning from the Bay Area where everyone is now under confinement orders. The area has truly lost its mind. Not that I do go anywhere much, only put about 125 miles per week on the car, but this stuff has really gotten stupid here. Now, the idiots don't even want a person talking to another person and if so, stay at least 6 feet away.

Stores were stripped bare yesterday when the shutdown was announced. Could not even get into them. The insanity is unreal. But there has been good news for me.

1. Colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday was cancelled.

2. Latest PSA after starting Xtandi on Nov 6 has dropped to .88, best it has ever been. 3 1/2 years now of fighting off the Beast.

So must say overall............LIFE IS GOOD.

We are locked in the house. I knew this was coming, so stocked up on food for us and the dog. All my kids listened to me for once and have stocked up also. Most are now working from their homes. I only worry about my middle daughter who does mortgages for a bank and they will not let her work from home. Stay in and don't let anyone in.
