Kraft insulin assay surprise

My peak insulin was 42.6 at 2 hours after a 75 gram glucose swallow. My peak glucose was 184,also at 2 hours post sugar swallow. I don't know how to interpret that. Maybe I can't store insulin..maybe this is typo 1.5 diabetes : called LADA...or maybe my beta cells are just tired. Does anybody ? recognize this pattern?

Hello Lumimuut,

You may want to post your question on a forum dedicated to diabetes rather than to prostate cancer. You can find several of them by doing this:

Click "My hub" at the top of the screen.

Click "Find a community" at the bottom of the drop down list.

Type "diabetes" in the "Search HealthUnlocked" box and click the magnifying glass.

184 at 2 hours indicates impaired glucose tolerance, You do not have diabetes but you have a higher chance to develop diabetes and its complications.

After about six months on ADT my blood glucose shot up to such an extent that my doctor thought I was diabetic.

I started on two times 500mg of metformin per day and changed my diet to less sucrose, processed flour products, cake, etc and more wholemeal flour, vegetables, etc and my fasting blood glucose is now in or close to the normal range.

I test it every morning with a meter that I know is accurate because I have taken several groups of readings before and after a lab test and all the readings fall in a group with a 5% distribution around the lab result.

I have been off the Firmagon for four months now and if my testosterone returns I think I may see further gains.

Raised blood glucose does not mean that you are going to become diabetic, it means that you have a raised chance of becoming diabetic.

It is also reversible in some cases by taking more exercise, eating better, losing weight, etc.
