There is no special way to inject. Lupron is injected in muscles. mostly in hips.
There is another preparation called ELIGARD (same as Lupron) which is injected in belly fat.
My experience is that when my Doctor switched me from Lupron to Eligard, I had less side effects as Eligard distributes more smoothly and does not have spikes of med.
Eligard is what I'm on . The injection is a bit larger due to dosage and the medicine itself is sort of like a beads that breakdown over the six months .
Some of the Brothers on the site say it stings a bit but I guess it's who administered it. I experience no more pain than a normal injection.
When I get a Lupron shot, Mayo pays attention to where it is given. They alternate sides and carefully place it in around the same spot on the hip.
I get alternatively both Eligard and Lupron.
(I live part time in Mexico and had to accept what - ever is available)
Eligard in the belly - fat and Lupron in the muscle.
With Lupron it is important to be relax ,one of the doctors knows the muscle between the hip and upper "behind"
where it hurts the least !
I am trying to get the implant -
as per Nalakrats, probably the best solution.
Good luck!
I’m taking monthly Lupron shots at UCSD, given by the nurses in the Uro dept. They inject into the gluteus muscle about 2 inches behind the lateral hip protrusion. The least painful shots are quick— starting slow and finishing fast, the worst when the nurse takes a full 30-45 seconds. I found the best way is standing up, with weight on the opposite leg, and no weight on target side leg, bent with knee on the table, and relax.
In the earlobe...

My Eligard shot is given to the buttocks. Not to the stomach.
