TA has provided a great list. One thing to keep in mind in travel. How well will do traveling back and forth.

There is no one "best" imho, but there are many excellent ones, all equally good. A list of 6 (I can name many more) would include Oliver Sartor at Tulane, Eleni Efstathiou at MD Anderson, William Oh at Mt Sinai, Christopher Sweeney at Dana Farber, Emmanuel Antonarakis at Johns Hopkins, or Maha Hussain at Northwestern. Many more.

Great list by TA. If you end up going to Dana Farber, I doubt you will be able to get an appointment with Dr. Sweeney. He is busy. However, Dr. Pomerantz is highly recommended and may be a good or better option. He is more patient-focused and works with Sweeney and other so they compare notes (presumably).

Who at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN?

No one - urologic oncology is not their strength . If you are in Minnesota, Charles Ryan at the U. of Minnesota would be a much better choice, imho.

Agree with tall Alan...all quality MO ,s in that list but many more as well, if you stick with any of the top teaching hospitals and Cancer Centers across the country you won't go wrong you would be amazed how close nit the Oncology world really is, seems they have all practiced with one another at one point In time and confer on a regular basis...I drop names to my MO, in Boston to get referrals for folks across the country and he seems to know everyone, he came from MD Anderson and also one of the Brightest..saving my life with experimental immunotheraphy for PC.

That's been my experience as well. The top ones everywhere are not shy about picking up the phone and asking colleagues about unusual situations or about clinical trials that he might be the lead investigator on. Info spreads quickly.

TA, do you know of any excellent MO in or around Atlanta, Georgia?

I'm only familiar with Marty Sanda at Emory, but he's more a urologist and researcher.

TA, 4 of those you have mentioned are involved with my case thru my MO and have supplemented findings thru Publications they have written on my case ....that's how well connected they are.

Agree with above. Teaching facilities more apt to have cutting edge/clinical trials. Be educated about your cancer. Ask questions, bring up trials and info. If your doctor is not interested or condescending find another. If your doctor gives lifespan numbers, go to someone else. Your best advocate is you. Be blessed and good luck.

If your Dad is in India and you have a brother on the West coast of the U.S. (namely San Francisco) it would make sense to have him see a MO there. Unfortunately I don't know of any on the west coast, but ask Tall_Allen to refer you to one.

BTW are you male or female?.... With east Indian names, it's so hard to distinguish between the two e.g. The name RAMISH...

Thank you for you reply... Unfortunately the US government has temporarily closed down immigration so it may be awhile if you wish to bring your Dad to the US for treatment. If and when you wish to bring him here and you decide on the EAST coast, I would highly recommend Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center in New York City. Stay with us and keep posting as usual.....
