Don’t give up

I’m a pharmacist and I work in a cancer center preparing chemo...Today I found this poet by an oncology technician , Carol Kudhail. It’s worthy to share with you ,brave fighters!

“Today I prepared chemo

just like I always do:

Precisely & filled with Love,

and then I noticed it was for You. .

My eyes welled up, I'm weeping,

My heart sank into my toes.

I don't understand how You got here.

This is not the path You chose. .

But Cancer looks past no one

It does not discriminate.

It stomps right on Your plans

and in one breath can change Your fate. .

I determine that You are not Your diagnosis

all Our futures are unknown.

Please know that when you fight this fight

no One fights alone.

.

I am working in the background

blending into the crowd

Screaming "Fuck you, Cancer"

silently but oh so loud!

.

Even though you don't see me,

to You I may not even have a name,

know in the corner I am here

fighting on your side in this war game. .

So as I finish up your chemo

And I label it just so

I look up at God and tell Him

I feel it's not your time yet to go.

.

Although there are days I wish I didn't do this,

Didn't see you in my chair

I believe I was put on this Earth

to provide this profound care.”

Lovely. Must be so hard to work in the field and then have it touch you, or a loved one. So powerful on day -- helping to save -- then blasted to smithereens when the cancer comes home.

A very poignant poem! As we fight this disease we tend to think we fight alone, but we have so many people supporting and caring for us that we may not even know about.

Thank you to all the people who support us and work so hard in the background to heal us.

One of our best friends is a med tech at my husband's oncologist office. We told her about his diagnosis and asked her advice on doctors when he was first diagnosed - she and her husband were the first people we told after diagnosis - sadly it was on Christmas Day 2016.

She has told us how hard it is to have a friend or even a family member just show up for treatment without telling her first. And we've sat with her many times as she has cried about patients she has lost.

I could not work in a doctor's office of any kind so very much appreciate all the work she and her co-workers do for us.

Annie... Thank you for sticking with us... Your Dad would have wanted that.... Thank you for that wonderful post.... When I was being "fried" I used to see small "bald" children in the Radiation area and all I could do is shake my head and wonder what will become of them. So at my age having Pca is like nothing compared to them. I fight the beast with laughter cause any other way would torture me..... Stay well and a Happy New Year to you and your family. I don't have to wish your Dad a happy one... since he's already filled with joy... Bless him...

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
