Thank you for this! My husband had SBRT to two metastasis to T6 and his hip 3 months ago. His doctor took him off Lupron and these metastasis developed right away. Our doctor strongly believes Oligometastatic disease can be cured and at this point, my husbands cancer is nearly undetectable 3 months after SBRT. My husbands disease has been very aggressive with a Gleason 8 and scary doubling time. Now he's not on any medications. (Other than lots of Life Extension supplements, the Care Oncology protocol and Vitamin C infusions). His radiologist said it could have gone either way as far as developing more metastasis. We are lucky so far. My husband gets to resume his career as an airline pilot where chemo would have kept him grounded 14-16 months versus 3 months for SBRT. I'm grateful we have a doctor that believes in Oligometastatic disease. None of the doctors in the DC Metro area we have met, believe in this approach. For us, it was worth a try. My husband loves his job and maybe he is cured. Time will tell.

Thank you! We're scheduled to meet again with my husband's radiation oncologist in a couple of weeks. He discouraged us from pursuing radiation treatment two years ago, but is open to looking at our options now given the relatively new research findings and my husband's relatively young age and otherwise good health.

Hi TNCanuck, just wondering what part of Canada your from? I live in Waterloo area and I go to Sunnybrook in TO. I,m wondering if they do SBRT there?

I'm from Hamilton. Isn't Sunnybrook a drive for you?

wings24 profile image
wings24 in reply toTNCanuck

Yeah Sunnybrook usually takes me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get there. But I'm in a trial down there. When that's over I'm thinking about going to Jurvinski. Are you going to Jurvinski?

Good deal. Which trial? We live in the states now...Tennessee.

I'm on a trial with Zytiga, prednisone and the trial drug is ipatersitib. Been on it for 16 months now.

How do you like living down there?

Too bad about the Ticats, did great all season and then didn't show up for Grey Cup.

Hope things go well for you.

Absolutely love TN. Spent part of Christmas day on the porch swing - - no jacket or coat needed. 😁

Thanks, Patrick. Finished my SBRT on Halloween and will check in with the MO in mid-December. The RO was more than happy and I'll be interested in the MO's ideas on continued ADT. As I've mentioned before, if I were to get a new cat (new child seems out of the question) I would name it Stampede.
