1999 PSA at 6. Was offered radical with nerve bundles removed. Went to St Georg Klinik in Bad Abling Bavaria, Had transurethral hyperthermia, PSA stayed at about 2.5 for 12 years. then it started to rise. Returned two more times with not much success. On Lupron then 3 years ago started xtandi, 1/201119 PSA is at 125 . Karmanos docter suggested a trial ESK981.with condition if it failed would get LU-177. It failed PSA went to740. Karmanos refused to give me the LU-177. PSA came down by itself to 370 When ESK failed. I was promised it than threw under BUS Went to University of Heildelberg twice PSA now 50 Returning for third time 11/11. University of Michigan even refused to do PSMA scan that U of H wanted even if I paid there price of 5000 dollars for it. Said I do not qualify since a still have a prostate. U of H agreed to do it for only 900 euros. How does this work? All LU-177 Trials will not do this for because it clearly states no if you still have a prostate.

You probably have very high PSMA expression in your untreated (surgery or radiation) prostate -- can those beta rays do significant damage to your urethra, bladder and rectum?

I am not aware of this happening . At this time I do not think I am experiencing any of this. Dr. in Germany said I have a very high PSMA expression. He said we will melt your cancer like butter in the hot sun. I liked him.

What treatment are you getting at Heidelberg that reduced the psa to 50?

Injection of radioactive material called 4 MBq Actinium-225 and 4 GBq Lutetium-177.

Trials in the US do not include the Actitium-225.

It seems pretty effective. Best of luck to you.

Hope you are able to get what you need from German cancer treatments. If and when we need further treatment we will consider Klinik Marinus in Germany or our progressive Australian cancer clinics offering LU177. My buddy speaks fluent German and lived in Dortmund so we’re familiar with German innovative approaches and treatment for PCa. PSMA PET scan in Australia is not covered by our Medicare system. We paid private radiologist around $700 2 years ago. You’ve had a long run and I hope it continues. Wishing you very good outcomes.

Thank You

You are a victim of "the Book", but had a good run with it too. Do not look for too much logic with Pca treatments when lawyers and insurance people make the decisions.

The German "University Circuit" are "by-the-book" places. Outside of them, there are some excellent "alternate" clinics using "outside the box" thinking.

If you have pains "Here, here, and here as well", you do not need a scan to know you have some mets. The only logical reason for a scan is to see if any mets look like a candidate for some radiation.

You have a little time to find the best next step, I suggest you experiment with a low dose Xtandi and Sodium Ascorbate combo. A start like 2 Xtandi a day and 50grams ascorbate IV at least once a week should get that PSA moving down some more. As the PSA comes down, you can cut the doses to suit, but you will need at least 1 Xtandi a week before 25grams IV to keep up the kill of the cancer in the longer term. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks. I have been talking to two Mexican clinics as a back up . Where would I go for your suggestions?

in reply tolewicki

At the top of the list (at a price) Dr Mark Stengler is a trusted clinic in the Bay area; Dr James Forsyth in Reno (he is arguably the most successful doctor beating cancer in the USA - his 5-year survival rates puts the usual "by the book" rabble to shame).

Google "Vitamin IV Clinics near me" may produce a few names. They should be able to give you references to phone who regularly get Sodium Ascorbate IV's. They are common south of the border. The problem is to avoid the quacks who may want to give you "extras" in the IV to boost the price, and some of these (like B vitamins) can be dangerous (although in skilled and trusted hands these are a good idea). Some like to charge $1,500 a shot, but a fair price is around $80. If you can get the bits and pieces, a fair price to stick in the needle at home is a standard home visit fee. This is not rocket science - ascorbate occurs naturally in the body so is essentially harmless even in doses over 100 grams (although I think going over 50 is not cost effective - rather do more per week). Good hunting!

Thanks. There is an alternative doctor in the area. DR. Brownstein. I will see if he can Help.
