Xtandi and cardio problems

Has anyone developed tachycardia or skipped beats while on Xtandi? I started experiencing rapid heart rate a few weeks after starting Xtandi. I was put on 25mg Metoprol daily and things seemed to even out, but now after 10 months on Xtandi I am having daily irregular or skipped heart beats. They increased my dose of Metoprol to 50 mg daily, but irregular heart beats are still continuing. I had been wanting to take a drug holiday from Xtandi and Firmagon as I have been undetectable for 10 months now. Looks like I will be starting the holiday a little sooner than I thought. Would hate to stop the PC just to have the damn cancer drugs kill me with a heart attack ! Cant get into cardiologist for 2 weeks.

While you're waiting to see a Cardio, make sure you are well-hydrated and have ample electrolytes, especially potassium and calcium. I've had palpitations before and after being diagnosed with PCa, sort of like a fluttering heart that can't synch up, and drinking electrolytes and hydrating often helped the situation.

Thanks for the tip

You could try to take some magnesium and see if it helps with the palpitations.

What does the electrocardiogram show? You could have Atrial Fibrillation (AF). AF requires treatment with anti arrhythmic drugs and also at our age with anti coagulation medication. Toprol is a beta blocker, it will reduce the heart rate and intensity of the heart contractions but it will not revert AF to sinus rhythm (normal rhythm).

Had irregular heartbeat for years . An Apple Watch which nudged me not to sit long periods and get up a move around every hour for a couple of minutes help immensely, Also take pharmaceutical fish oil and magnesium

I do sit for long hours as my work involves creating 3d computer models, so I get a lot of "screen time". I will try your advice and get up for a walk every hour.

Hi my husband has FA is taking Xtandi, before that he took Firmagon and became CR. His been taking Xtandi for at least 6 months and last month his PSA started finally to go down.

Xtandi and Firmagon a more 'heart' friendly I've understood that's why they chose it for my husband. But on the other hand he can't take the two together because theyd be too potent for him

I have been on xtandi for 3 1/2 year with no heart problems yet.

So far I have only been on it 10 months. I hate that it appears to be causing heart issues, because it has worked great.

I'm sure we all would. Course the only ballroom I remember is the gym and the coach screaming "Dodge ball!" and us little guys huddling in a herd, turning white, (and Blackie turning gray), and the big guys, eyes red as fire snarling "gonna take you out." And they did, one by one. Kinda like Pca. Except there's no balls in Pca.

I take propafenone (rythmol) and 'toprol for a-fib. Xtandi could certainly be in my future. I wonder if I should insist on a-fib ablation now (I am almost 70) since future PC drugs or chemo could be a problem.

Hi, I've been on XTANDI for month's now, I had a Stress Test last week to check on my one small blockage, which came back normal, except for a lot of PVC'S. I had a Halter Monitor done this week, and it show many, many, PAC'S which has me worried. I do drink some coffee though.

I was on ADT drugs, including Xtandi for 3 years. While on ADT I experienced near constant PACs, and irregular beats. I was not told I should keep a close eye on bad cholesteral and trigycerides, and as a result they both got sky high before it was caught, This resulted in a 70% blockage of my LAD (the ol widow maker). After stopping all ADT drugs, the PACs and irregular beats have stopped, and the half dozen heart and BP drugs I am now on are keeping the blockage in check (it is in a poor location for a stint). I believe I was headed for a major heart attack had I not stopped the ADT drugs..... the question I am faced with now is what to do about the cancer?
