Yes, my husband had a lot of edema in hands and feet after stopping Lupron/Zytiga/Prednisone (he was on these meds for a year prior to stopping). We attributed it to prednisone withdrawal, and so did our MO, even though he tapered off. He does not have any heart, kidney, liver or circulatory issues and has a healthy weight. He was very athletic prior to diagnosis. We tested his cortisol, aldosterone, chem/cbc, and other hormones multiple times during the "edema months" and nothing was off except low DHEA. Maybe he could have taken a diuretic or used compression stockings, but he didn't want to, so we waited it out. We tried diosmin for venous insufficiency, anti-inflammatories etc, nothing really helped. Avoiding salt, keeping limbs elevated and avoiding getting overheated was important. It is important to make sure there isn't anything else causing the edema, for us there wasn't, it took about 6 months for it to fully resolve.

Gosh! Thanks! My GP suspected this at appointment today. Edema a little less in thighs. Knees sore about same time as start of edema. Good to learn someone else went through this. It's a pisser!

Best,

Craig

Did you have chemotherapy?

One dose then quit, near the beginning of the 2 years.

All of these medications play havoc with the electrolyte systems, as the body has to adjust to a "new normal" each time. I found lack of Potassium was the main problem, as I had to get to an "average" level before things started getting better. A "Normal - but on the low side" can still be too little.

Also take a close look at the magnesium, calcium, zinc and chromium while you are at it - these (and more) are all part of a complex balancing act.

Thanks, David, I'll run this by my GP.

Left leg swelled up enough that I had an Ultrasound done. They didn't find any kind of vein issue and after a few weeks it resolved itself. I believe I have mild edema once in a while now. But nothing like that event. Good luck with this.
