I can't help you with specific recommendations. My own RO's were excellent but one now practices in Canada and another took a job in research. I can however make a couple of general suggestions.

First, let us know about any geographical issues - where you live and how far your SO can travel for treatment. A great doctor nearby has advantages over a great doctor a thousand miles away.

Second, consider the National Cancer Institute's "Designated Cancer Centers". These are research hospitals and clinics that NCI believes have particularly good research departments and offer treatments based on the latest research by people who are, in effect, both doctors and scientists. See: cancer.gov/research/nci-rol... You can often find good people at these places.

Third, if you get the names of doctors you can check them out to some degree via Google and, if they do any research, Pubmed (see: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ and ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK3... ). Pubmed indexes all of the important medical journals.

I hope that's useful.

Is Vogelzang your MO? Maybe ask him for a recommendation.

Take a look at UCLA. They are just down the street a bit.

Yes . Dr . Vogelzang is his oncologist.

Dr Vogelzang is my MO and recommended RT at their fine facility. So I suspect you just need to ask him. I assume your SO has a verified met to the spine?

I just finished Pelvic Radiation with a Dr. Schwartz @ Siena Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (next to St. Rose Dominican Siena Hospital). Additionally, I see a Dr. Vogelzang who is a Medical Oncologist and is nationally known for his Research with Prostate Cancer. Dr Schwartz is a REALLY nice guy who wants to make sure the treatment is right for, and is best for, the patient. Dr Vogelzang can be a bit ornery at times but has vast knowledge and is on the front end of some of the research ..... I am there for his knowledge & research contacts. I am in Henderson. You can contact me at: rscic@hotmail.com. Just put Prostate Cancer & Las Vegas in the title so I do not delete you.
