Well folks, I am coming up on my one year anniversary of dating Erleada. She has not been too bad even though she did raise my BP a bit (and they got a pill for that). My PSA is .01 and at last check there is still no evidence of metastatic disease. Nineteen years I have been dealing with this disease, however I continue to count the blessings as I see all the other soldiers who are fighting much much harder fights than I.

I had a hip replacement in 2008 resulting from radiation therapy in 2000. I was walking my two shepherd/husky mix last Tuesday and encountered two kids on bicycles. That meeting did not go well. My female freaked out and jerked me off my feet. I landed directly on the hip replacement and fractured the femur. Had surgery next day and came home two days later.

Now six weeks of no contact on right leg, months of rehab and a complete change of lifestyle. I always am looking for ways to get my mind of the big C. I am not sure this was the best approach. And my timing really sucks because my sweet bride of 40+ years started radiation treatment for breast cancer the day I fell. The caregiver became the patient in an instant.

Just remember, life is precious and things can change in an instant. Appreciate what you have, especially those caring and loving people around you.

Sorry to hear that both you and your wife are facing cancer situation. Its truly hard when caregiver wife gets sick...its like rug has been pulled under your feet.

All I would like to say is that "May the force be with you two and you emerge victorious from this present crisis" Best wishes.

Pmann, congrats on the good fight, 19 years beats my 16.---- Agree that we must look for those things that make life worthwhile. My wife of 56 years has advanced Alzheimer's and has been unable to talk and has been bedridden for the past 5 years. We are grateful however because she appears to be in no pain. Once in a while she appears to regain awareness for a few seconds and gives us a huge smile and for that moment, we appreciate life as such.

You're problem was, you should have been riding your two shepherd/husky mix dogs, not walking them. Hope you heal quickly and as for your beautiful sweet bride of 40 + years I predict she and you will celebrate your 60+ years of wedded bliss....

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
