Ginger extract

Hi,

I've been doing some research for my husband who's just finished 37 sessions of radiotherapy.

He can't take Turmeric as he has Gallstones but I've read some good things about Ginger.

Does anyone take this? Can't find any posts so don't know if I'm missing something. Also not sure how long to leave it after radiotherapy due to antioxidants?

Thank you so much for any thoughts

I eat a big piece of raw ginger every morning . I like it and I believe in benefits of Ginger.

In fact, there is a post on this forum by title "Ginger for prostate Cancer ?"

Thanks Learn all.

My husband doesn't like it so we'll try supplements instead.

Best wishes

Doing an entire vegetarian diet with supplements is best that would include ginger and other foods.

A Pubmed search on ( ginger prostate cancer ) today produced 1,037 hits, which seems to indicate a lot of interest in ginger. Skimming through the search results list I see mostly Indian and Chinese author names. That suggests to me that there's more interest in herbal medicine in India and China than in the U.S., but I guess that's not surprising.

Many of the article titles mention anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, so there would seem to be, as you mentioned, issues about potential interference with the radiation effects. You can ask your radiation oncologist about that but I wouldn't be surprised if no one, not even radiation oncologists, knows much about this subject.

Best of luck.

Alan

We have done both ground ginger in our smoothies and taking Bosmeric-SR which has ginger in it. My sweetie has worked up to tolerating 1 teaspoon of ground ginger in his smoothie every day. I do not know if it helps or not but I am happy he is still here.

I have heard that ginger is supposed to help with pain. (probably the anti-inflammatory)

We get Bosmeric-SR from Better Way Health. (They have a subscribe and save feature that helps with the cost) The Bosmeric-Sr also has Curcumin and Boswellia in addition to ginger so you can take less pills. We know the Dr who came up with it. He is a really good integrative Doctor. When my husband was diagnosed he had him take 6 pills a day.

My sweetie has Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer and I consider it to be a miracle that he is alive!

Sending you tons of hugs, prayers, and get well wishes!
