As you will see from my previous posts we have been on a roll a coaster ride over the past 6mths. In my last post I said my husband was having problems with numbness of tongue and lips. Today he went to have his Chemo and they did an MRI and it now appears to be a small swelling in the lower Brain. We only spoke to the house Doctor and he says it is the reason for the slurred speech and mouth numbness he believes the next step is radiation for this new area. We have a meeting with our oncologist next Thursday. Please, can someone enlighten me as to what to expect, what to ask,? I am devastated. Many thanks

Stereoscopic radiation has gotten extremely precise since my father had brain radiation. Side effects will depend on the location. What does his radiation oncologist say?
We only spoke to HouseDoctor yesterday. Our oncologist is away until next Thursday we have an appointment for Thursday. My reading since yesterday says it is rare for pc to go to Brain has anyone else had this development? can they be removed?
It is very rare to invade the soft tissue of the brain. Much more common is when it invades the boney tissues of the cranium and the masses grow and press on the brain.
I have seen good results in using radiation for brain tumors. I don't have the expertise to give you an answer that is useful in his case but hope that it can work.
Questions that come to mind include: Is this the only viable treatment option? How successful has this been for similar patients with this condition? How many patients have you treated using this method for this condition and what are the percentages of various outcomes? What is likely to be the side effects of treatment for his functioning? Make sure your husband understand the answers and can give you direction on what he wants to do.
I pray that all goes well for you both. I recommend you find moral support with family and friends. This is a time to rely on others and give them an opportunity to help in any way they can.
