A month with out meds

Hello all. I have been doing great after taking the advice from this group. I have been on Zytiga for over a year, something my first oncologist refused to prescribe due to costs, like he was paying for it? I have a tiny weenie speck of a metz on a portion of lower back bone, but nothing else. It cause no issues, pain etc. I take my prednisone one a day without fail, have not side effects of anything, my new oncologist states I should be in remission for years to come. I feel healthy, well I always have. NOW, my issue. I have changed jobs, and will have a gap in my insurance. Would it be detrimental to miss a month of no meds? I guess I can ask my onco, but he is out of town for two weeks. Thanks for any info.

You may wish to get your prescription filled now--there have been proven cases where people took 250 mg--1 tablet with a low fat meal and did fine...see below:

healio.com/hematology-oncol...

That will help keep you on track till your other insurance kicks in....some are buying Abiraterone acetate from Pharmacies in India and having it shipped.....the cost is about $160.00 for a month supply--120 tabs...Hope this helps and may you stay in remission for a long, long, time....

Personally I wouldn’t stop the med . Got t9 keep things at bay . Good luck .

What are your numbers? May be time for a vacation from the meds, if your PSA is real low. Intermittent ADT has not been shown to be detrimental to survival, and definitely increases QoL.

Lower daily pill count taken with food appears reasonable as previously suggested.

Are you on Lupron? Take a longer acting shot than normal for you. This should care you well.

Or take 3 Casodex daily if still on Lupron while off Zytiga.

Ask your Doc what he thinks.

Call Zytiga manufacturer,,,if lucky you may speak with someone who can advise. Perhaps they will send a month supply at no charge. Lol,,,however you never know.

None are my advice,,,I am shooting from the hip. I believe you will be fine,,,especially if you are on Lupron,,,or taking lesser dose each day to permit supply to stretch out for a month
