The video link will describe briefly Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) now being offered in San Diego. On the link page you can hear Dr. Stehling provide an overview of the procedure he helped develop in Frankfurt, Germany. The results of the NanoKnife seem very impressive given typical concerns about nerve sparring and incontinence.

Do you know if having seminal vesicle involvement precludes this treatment? I enquired about it in the UK, but was told I wouldn't be eligible.
They usually do not include the seminal vesicles in the treated area when there is no indication these could be involved. However, the Vitus prostate cancer team will include them if required. As far as I know, this team has treated by far more prostate cancer patients with IRE/Nanoknife than any other clinic in the world. I would assume they did more treatments than all the other clinics together in the area of prostate cancer treatment with IRE. Most clinics will use IRE for focal therapy. Vitus does focal therapy but will also ablate the entire prostate and the area the tumor has spread beyond it.
The device is manufactured in the US:
Sounds fantastic! How sad for all those fellows (including my husband) to whom this treatment was not available! And is it still only being performed in San Diego? How ironic that the equipment is manufactured in the U.S.
Also, I wonder if this IRE will treat other cancers, e.g., lung cancer tumors? Would hope it will have potential in many other malignancies.
I have heard that it is also used in pancreatic and liver cancers. Dr. Martin is using it for that purpose:

Vitus will only treat prostate cancer patients.
If your husband has prostate cancer mets in his lungs, docetaxel may help. I know a patient whose lung mets were gone after six cycles of docetaxel.
Thanks. I didn't make clear -- I have lung cancer. Thankfully, hubby's PCa so far hasn't gone to lungs.
Maybe the MWA therapy can help you:

Nanoknife article in the Daily Telegraph today. What chance that the NHS will adopt it quickly? Politics and big pharma come into play? Been around for more than three years in Germany and elsewhere, and yet? Reading comments to article interesting.
