Yea..I pretty much eat everything I want..I am not a believer that a diet can cure this shit...Or maybe its just when they told me 24-36 months, I though F$%K it, I am going out not regretting ..

Agree with you 100%, DeanNelson. I too eat everything I want to but I do not do the smoking bit and never will. Booze within limits is good enough for me. Cheers !!!

Hmm... I agree with you and Dean! I'm Light on the meat (a 6 oz filet mignon will last me 2 days, eat half and a cold sandwich next day). However, I do vary my diet.

So far, I'm doing well with therapy and I also turned 71.

I drink more than I should every day and I'm aware of the potential consequences.

Damn, given the life I've lead, I'm stunned that I made to 71!

Now, I don't mean to make light of, demean or discourage those whom require strict dietary maintenance.

You're better men than I am!

That being said, You've provided me with the seeds of a new post!

Best to all

You can get beer from a mango? Always wondered what those things were good for.

My brother is a connoisseur of craft beer. His wife drives him around to beer tastings. (He is no longer allowed at wine tastings.) When I mention mango beer to him tonight, I am sure he will talk at length, and with many adjectives, as he never met a beer he didn't like.

Looks and Sounds Good! I like baby back ribs cooked slow with a Weber using apple wood chips, wet em with fresh lemon, sprinkle em with KC rub, indirect heat with pan of water, 1 hr bone side down, 1 hr bone side up, 1 hr rapped with heavy duty aluminum soaking with apple juice, 30 minutes more alternating back and forth with thin layers of sauce. Serve with baked beans, slaw, potato salad and single vineyard Pinot Noir from Russian River! Oh Yah! Easy Brother ๐Ÿ™

My wife was just mentioning this morning that it was time to smoke some pork butts (for non-U.S., the cuts are from the shoulder, not rear-end.)

As with the Thanksgiving turkey, this tends to be a once per year event for us.

The diet purists would argue that if it is only one a year, why not give it up entirely? I wouldn't dream of skipping the Thanksgiving meal, or replacing the turkey with tofurkey. & my mesquite-smoked butts are better than anything we can get around here.

I don't pig-out on the pulled pork, so I doubt overall survival is affected much. & the pleasure of the ritual may even be beneficial.

Plenty of days left for more prudent eating.

I found turkey breast on sale and used my sous vide (water immersion cooker) at 145 for 4 hours and it was succulent. Of course, I had to do mashed potatoes, used the turkey skin over Stove Top stuffing to boost the flavor. We all need to just indulge once in a while. My best to y'all

Go for it, brother! My philosophy is somewhat akin to yours and PJโ€™s. My M.O. said to just eat a sensible diet, and mentioned the Mediterranean Diet as just one example. He did not exclude occasionally treating yourself to a really great (filet mignon, baby back ribs, etc.) meal. Like P.J., I doubt overall survival is affected very much, and totally depriving yourself of pleasurable โ€œcomfortโ€ foods reduces your quality of life. I have yet to see one reliable, verifiable study that shows that a very restrictive diet will definitely add x number of months or years to your life. Just be sensible. Today is our 33rd wedding anniversary. Heading over to New Smyrna Beach ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿfor some coconut shrimp ๐Ÿฆ and hush puppies ๐Ÿถoverlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Tomorrow Iโ€™ll eat salad...maybe. ๐Ÿ˜‰. Life is good. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Whatโ€™s in that bong Dean-O? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™m with you 100.234. % Dean. In an act of frustration and capitulation, I split a rack of ribs with my wife last Saturday. I usually try to eat in a healthy manner, but Iโ€™m not above blowing it out every now and then...preferably now ๐Ÿ˜Ž. This rib feast was in the wake of my recent 12/26 Mayo visit showing progression into mCRPC after 4 1/2 years of being a good boy, eating a healthy diet (not vegan, but modified Mediterranean...with occasional โ€œrewardsโ€), taking a litany of supplements, already on a statin and Metformin for reasons unrelated to my PCa (neither prevented me from getting prostate cancer), being compliant with the program treatment protocols, and living in a state of blissful complacency in the world of undetectable PSA, my (then) single bone tumor magically disappearing from the scans...thinking to my deluded self, โ€œThis isnโ€™t so bad. I could stay this way for years!โ€ Then in December the hammer dropped and the proverbial ๐Ÿ’ฉ hit the fan...PSA up to 1.4 and 6 new bone tumors including the reemergence of my original lesion. The chemo I had added to my ADT 2 years ago only kept the monster at bay for less than 2 years...more like 18-20 months. My M.O. said most guys get 3-4 years of PFS out of that combo. Now Iโ€™m getting ready to board the ungodly expensive Xtandi (enzalutamide) train. The โ€œrack rateโ€ for it is $8500-$10,000 a MONTH! Unbelievable. Iโ€™ve been preapproved for it by Blue Cross. Hope my out of pocket copay is low or zero.

Where Iโ€™m going with this is that we (in this forum) all have the same disease, but PCa affects each of us in different ways, as do what treatments work and for how long. I admire those of us who can handle the restrictions of a vegan diet, but have yet to see one iota of conclusive evidence that any highly restrictive diet will add even one day to our lives, or that any of the herbals we (myself included) take have much meaningful efficacy in terms of PFS or OS. Having said that, I still take a couple of supplements (Broccoli-Max, curcumin, and a bone supplement my M.O. has given his blessing to called Prosteon). I think the Prosteon may have helped me delay bone issues. Not sure if Iโ€™m not just pissing the others down the sanitary pedestal ๐Ÿšฝ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Like many of you, I sometimes, but not often, enjoy an alcoholic beverage when my wife and I dine out at high class restaurants (i.e. one without a drive thru), usually with my close personal friend Jim (Beam), but I also occasionally have an aperitif of fine wine. I judge the quality of wine based on the pictures on the box ๐Ÿ˜‹.

Everything I say is a lie and thatโ€™s the truth. Enjoy life, Dean!

Mark
