Trying to figure out an inscrutable doctor

So, after a clean CT, my husband had PET scan and we got the results back today. His primary urologist is NOT the most helpful, so all he told us was "irregularities in the bladder, right illium, and acetebellum" and his only advice was to set up an appointment with our radiologist to discuss. My husband's had mixed ductal/adenocarcinoma, initial staging T2, never had a high PSA, brachyherapy and external beam radiation, and his PSA went down to .5, then slightly up to 1.2 then down, then slightly up to 1.2. 2 years ago, his CT/MRI and Bone scans showed no migration of cancer. I am wondering if anyone here has had similar issues, and what kinds of questions we need to be asking the radiologist? (and yes, I think we're DONE with this urologist, because simply emailing these results with no explanation or discussion has only made us super anxious and terrified. Particularly with a holiday weekend!)

I am assuming he had the PET with Axumin. It can have false positives but also false negatives. With his history I would be running to find a research oncologist to help you develop a game plan. Sounds like his urologist isn’t interested in being part of the care team.

Fire the jerk urologist. That kind of mistreatment is unethical and unprofessional.

Get a copy of the results directly from the hospital. They have to give it to you. You'll need to fill out a form. It's usually in the form of a CD plus the hospital radiologist's report.

Take that CD and find another radiologist. Always, always, always get a second opinion. A lot is riding on the interpretation of those images, so get second or even third opinion.

Good luck!
