Stick with it - the most vulnerable cancer cells die first.

There can be some variance with PSA when starting Zytiga.....when Pca cells die, they release PSA.... wait a bit longer....early in the battle...

Relax and wait.... I know, it is the PSA--we call it the prostate specific anxiety test for a reason here....some additional advice....ignore the American Cancer Society stats--they are outdated by 5 years....exercise regularly--enjoy life....take it day to day...the first months are hardest...if sleep is an issue, try melatonin 5 mg to start and increase ....I take 15 mg a night...sleep well...good luck....

You, too!

I assume you are also on Lupron/Eligard?

I suggest that at some point in your journey you consider getting genetic testing (such as a simple saliva test from Color Genomics) to check for possible BRCA2+ mutation, which would predispose you for aggressive PC.

Also, the AR-V7 blood test would determine your sensitivity to Zytiga and Xtandi type drugs.

Been on Lupton 18 months with casodex added 10 months ago. Became mcr 2 months ago psa doubling monthly but recent psa 1.82 from .92 , 24 days ago. Dropped casodex and started zytega 4 weeks ago.

Hi Jak2243, On Zytiga your PSA should eventually go down because Zytiga will help to slow down the cancer activity in your body. It can take a little while until the PSA goes down. But it should certainly not go up and even double. I would suggest you talk to your oncologist about this. Perhaps Zytiga is not the right medication for you or perhaps you have to change how you take it or change to another drug? Where are your mets do you know?

Well, what the others here say is true as well; that it may be best to relax and wait for the moment, maybe for another month, and then review the situation. My husband's PSA went down straight away from 150 to 50 in one month and then to 0.2 in the following two months.

Thanks for the response. One small met on the pelvis, that's it. Willing to wait a while to see if PSA goes down. Taking the 4/250 mg zytega tabs between 1 and 2 AM and 5mg pred with breakfast and dinner. Talking to Onc at MDA tomorrow.
