I had a reoccurrence of my prostrate cancer. In 2014 had my prostrate removed, 72, radiation and lupron. I was good until July 2019 when it has moved to my lymph nodes, now I'm on lupon zitigia and prednisone. I was wondering if I stopped all meds as it seems I'll be on meds 24/7. If I have 5 years with the meds and side effects or 5 years with only pain control. Just wondering at 63 and going broke not to mention what it's doing to my wife.

Thank you, my wife and I are very close. My current quality of life is horrible due to side effects and pains we all have. I'm not special but taking meds to extend my life maybe five years my quality of life and energy is zero. I'm just wondering if I go off everything would I have a better quality of daily life vs how it's going now....I know its personal the decision we need to make but reality is I can't work 63 years old. I'm just wearing out, out of money and fearful of being homeless. Blessings

Don't stop fighting, the longer you have the more time for new discoveries. As to cost, contact the Patient Access Network. They can help with the cost of drugs.

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. I've stopped all my meds and feeling bad right now. I will ask for pain meds and see how it goes. Currently my old life crashed and burned and all the Surgery, radiation and the chemo and female hormones slowly have washed away. Staying as I was daily nausea, anxiety, zero energy. I walk 3-5 miles daily to keep energy but praying for the right answer. Thank you

I had 42 radiations in 2007 and the hospital wanted $130,000, because I was 63 years old with no health insurance. I found my urologist had the same radiation machine and he charged me $30,000. (what Medicare charges). My PSA was below 1.00 for 3 years and went up to 72 in 2011, So I was on Medicare then and I had 30 more radiations and started Lupron (Eligard - generic) after 3 weeks of Casodex to stop a Testosterone flair. All I paid was my Doctor's Co-pay and stayed on Eligard for 6 1/2 years. I no longer have cancer. My doctor checks me every 6 months and I wish you well.

Are you still on ADT? If not how long have you been off of it? Thanks
