Upcoming Hormone Therapy and Sex

Currently 52, diagnosed at 49 with Gleason 7 (3 +4) and PSA 5.1. Underwent prostatectomy (clear margins, lymph clean, seminal vesicle removed, but extraprostatic extensions) later followed by salvage radiation due to PSA recurrence. At this point my PSA has increased every three months from 0.11 to 0.4 to 1.16 which is a PSADT of approximately ten weeks. I have an Axumin scan at the Cleveland Clinic coming up next week but fully expect to undergo HT at some point afterwards. My urologist has mentioned using one of the Casodex family of drugs following the scan at some point. My question is if the treatment completely kills your sex drive and how this affects sex in general. Thoughts?

Jelly beans in a sack don't encourage much sex. Are you still active after prostatectomy? Mine spared no nerves, so no erections. Makes sex hard to achieve and pills, injections didn't achieve success.

Still active after RP and RT. All was good after RP but RT left me with the need for pills.

Thanks for the response! Still active after RP/RT but need to take a pill to combat an ED issue. The RT is what really killed me. Also looking to begin dating in a few months so this will be an adventure.

I'm 53, had RP Feb 2016, finished radiation 10/16. Still no PSA increase so far. Still leak and without Trimix injections, i'd be dead down there. Injections are not as bad as I thought and have saved my "sex" life. 2nd wife, who i met 2 months before diagnosis is a trooper and god send. All the above does not phase her.

Hi OG2! I was in your situation 12 years ago. DX 2005. RP JAN 2006, G 4+3 with biochemical recurrence April of 2007. You are the second guy on this blog who has such a sharply rising PSA after his RP. I guess that I don't understand how a Gleason score of 3 + 4 that indicates that the PC is moderately aggressive doesn't match the PSA rise which shows highly aggressive. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this???

I refused radiation, ADT and Chemo so can't help much with advise on sexual performance on HT. But many on this blog can do so. Wish you the best on your journey!
