Rising PSA and stable scans

We received the results of Jacks pet scan . Following 4 rounds of docataxel it show no uptake since Jan 22

Since his psa is hovering around 88 we were sure he would change him to cabataxal . They said that would be his last shot at chemo. And it was better to continue on the docataxel if the MRI shows the same results

Any thoughts

It sounds like he is getting a good radiographic response to docetaxel. Did you ask why this is his last shot?

It’s not. We thought they were going to switch but since Pet scan was positive and stable they do not want to switch to cacoraxel at this time

No fun, but stick with program. Might ice hands and feet during treatment. Towel around feet with gel packs frozen ad to misery but can help with neuropathy later on.

This may help. It is not a cure. Dr. Klotz of Toronto when speaking at a urologist's conference, (it is on YouTube), showed a graph of a patient's PSA values. One of Klotz's patient's prostate cancer was hormone resistant. His PSA stopped rising. His family owned a hot sauce company. He had started dosing him 3X a day. His PSA did not decline but stopped rising! If your husband likes hot sauce it might buy some time. Again it isn't a cure.

Follow your doctor's advice if you trust them. Seek other opinions if you feel you should.
