Lurpron side effects

Well my dad is feeling the effects of lupron I think. He's tired all the time and doesn't feel well in general. No appetite and occasional nausea as well. Will these symptoms improve? He got his first shot of Lupron two weeks ago. He's 91 and normally so full of life. It pains me to see him like this.

Lupron is designed to lower your T. That is what he is feeling, the effects of lowered T. Check out the benefits of T and then you can see what happens when it is lowered.

Try to get him up and moving. A simple walk can go a long way. I’m also on lupron for almost a year. I usually go to the gym 3 times a week after breakfast but this week I had minor outpatient surgery so no gym and I can really feel the difference. All I want to do is lay around and sleep. When I go to the gym I have a lot moe energy.

I had two Lupron shots in January and April in 2017 for my cyberknife treatment of extra capsular recurrence. Now for my lymph node metastasis I am on Casodex and Lupron since November 2018. My side effects are quite manageable. I am 78 years old. I think some of my problems are age related. But I may have some tendency of blaming everything on Lupron. I spend 3 to 4 hours a week at YMCA working out. That helps me to cope with Lupron side effects and slow down muscle loss. For a 91 year old, walking and moving around would be a good idea.

I don't recall any digestive effects from my Lupron experience - though I was much younger (57) when I had it. My main side effects were fatigue and hot flushes.

Your Dad might try some of the over the counter digestive meds like Pepto-Bismol. See: knowyourotcs.org/best-over-...

If his nausea continues maybe one of his doctors can prescribe one of the very effective prescription meds.

I agree with the other posters here that walking is a great tonic for Lupron side effects. If your Dad can do it he may find both that it helps him deal with the drugs and in addition, getting outdoors in the coming spring weather can be a real mood enhancer.

I wish him the best.

You might check out LIFEonADT.com to see if the info there would be helpful for your Dad.

91 why are u doing treatments at his year. he might live 5-6 more years without doing nothing. i would say let him enjoy what time he has left. none of these guarantee any complete healing. they do react in tiring ones strength plus side effects is it worth a 91 to go through that for maybe some extra time????

We mainly decided to treat because of mets to his hips, spine and femurs. He was taking tylenol three times a day for pain. We thought lupron would be the lesser of two evils.

he's 91 why bother him with more treatment have the doc prescribed low pain control and let him enjoy his life with out further treatments. first there is no cure at this time, and i would bet none when he leaves this earth so let him feel better with strength and go normally with control pain meds.

I am with Charles on this one (given your dad's age).

I am not sure that Lupron will give the desired pain relief. Just an opinion.

Totally agree at 91 let Dad enjoy his life the best he can . I am 68 and on Firmagon and can accept the side affects as necessary for my treatment , but no way at 91 would I be having hormone treatment. judg69

I've been on Lupron for many years and never had problem with my appetite or with energy. My question to all is "what's worse than being a housewife?" A househusband. Believe me you can really work your ass off doing housework. God bless your Dad at 91 years old. All of us here envy him for reaching the 90's. My advice is I don't have any advice. So,

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Give it a little more time and discuss with the doc. Hope things get better.

I was on Lupron for 6 1/2 years plus radiations (72) and now my cancer is gone. So your Dad would be 97? Radiation helped me with my bone metastases and Lupron has about 17 side effects, so you should check out the side effects under Google for Lupron. You may want to get a second opinion from another oncologist. Best of luck and keep asking questions!
