Gabapentin helps some folks. Your doctor must prescribe it.

Some of the herbal supplements for menopause can help: Estrovera definitely helped mine but wasn't strong enough to eliminate them.

Once PSA and Testosterone are low and more or less under control, many report that Depo Provera intramuscular injection 400mg ONCE usually eliminates hot flashes forever. The emphasis on “usually” added since there are cases wherein the hot flashes are not reduced/eliminated. Make sure the prescribing/administering physician is providing Depo Provera and not Provera.

Gabapentin (300mg 2x daily) and Lexapro (20mg 1x daily). I had them and they were really bad. Like every 20 mins. Now they are down to once or twice a day

I was given 100 mg Gabapentin capsules and told to take them as needed to control the hot flashes, up to 900 mg per day. At first 100 mg did the trick. As time wore on the hot flashes got more and more intense, and I had to keep upping the dose of gabapentin. At 600 mg I started noticing some toxicity and stopped there, but the hot flashes kept getting worse.

Blue Skies my friend...

Actually, born in NYC and grew up in Flushing, Queens. Spent much time at Shea Stadium watching the New York Mets, although the double headers were brutal on the butt.

But, 5 months ago, diagnosed: "Supercharged Quad Turbo Advanced Prostate Cancer, Nitrate Injected Metastasis Rocket Stage 4 Nuclear Booster Fixed Wing"

Stall Speed 400 knots, too scared to land...

LOL, can have fun sometimes, yeah, the play with Mets, in NYMets...

1. acupuncture

2. estrogen patch (with tamoxifen)

3. venlafaxine

4. Megestrol patch (with tamoxifen)

Venlafaxine is working for me, I now can sleep at least 6 hours straight. I resisted taking another drug, but sleeping is very important, before - the hot flashes would wake me up all night, every 2 hours.

We are all different, best to try and find what works for you...

your body will grow out of it. in time there will be no hot flashes

Unfortunately, that is not true. A good percentage of men experience hot flashes throughout ADT.

My doctor put me on Effexor to help with the anxiety and hot flashes. I always carry a large kerchief and a potable fan. Daughter got the fan fron amazon 😜😜

I did an estrodiol patch 0.1, cut in half, change the half patch every 2 to 4 days since cheap generic patches only last 3 to 4 days. GoodRX can get the cost down to $35 for a box of 8 patches. Cut in half that is 16 half patches that will last you 8 weeks. Take aspirin to negate the risk of clots because estrogen thickens your blood. Estrogen has an additional benefit to help with osteoporosis, joints, and memory loss. Switch to soy milk to add a very slight boost to estrogen intake since a half patch is a very low dose. Worked for me.

My hot flashes completely disappeared with acupuncture treatments. Also, from such treatments, my energy levels increased to about 75-80% of what they were prior to taking zytiga, prednisone and lupron injections. (I was shocked at how well acupuncture worked on me.)

My husband suffered terribly with hot flashes until recently. Gabapentin didn't help at all, and a combination of Megace and Effexor didn't help much. We took the suggestions from the helpful folks on here and started some new stuff:

Acupuncture

Melatonin (extended release)

Aromatherapy using a diffuser and lavender oil every night

Since we started all about the same time, we're not such which one works or if all help, but he's definitely sleeping MUCH better.

Hope something you find on here helps, Tinker.

So many suggestions I don't know where to start. Was given 2 300mg Gabapentin at bedtime for foot neuropathy and later added 1 300mg in morning. Still hasn't done much for neuropathy but hot flashes went away just like magic. Not completely gone but huge difference.

My MO told me to drink 2 glasses of soy milk a day. I tried it, it worked pretty well and is cheap. I am down to less than a glass a day now. I recommend this natural treatment.

As you've seen here.... You've got a lot of tinkering to do.

Sorry, I can’t help you. I took nothing. After a year or so, lessening effect. Psychologically, I dealt with hot flashes as my red badge of courage taking heed, that Lupron/Eligard was doing its thing. Good luck.
