Hello,

My RBC in urine is high(2-5). It’s called microscopic Hematiria. I had SRT after failed RP 2 years ago. I had a CT scan for pelvic and abdomen and was clear. Anyone experienced such a thing please?

Thanks

Sometimes scar tissue breaks off. Is your doctor concerned about it?

Thanks, TA. my PCP ordered a urine caltutre to check for infliction and asked me to see a URO. my Uro ordered a ct scan. that was 2 weeks ago. Both doctors never called or followed up with me.

Ask your RO - it's not uncommon. it might be a UTI or just scar tissue.

As TA says, "ask your RO".

My hub had intermittent blood spotting after IMRT. Uro didn't explain it, even after cystoscopy; but RO attributed it to scar tissue from the RT. As I understood, there's a "healing & sloughing off" that goes on following rad treatment.

Thanks, Lyubov

How long after the IMRT, your husband noticed the blood please?

The first appearance didn't occur until August 2017 (then cystoscopy Oct 2017, nothing seen); spotting again Dec 2017 (then cystoscopy Apr 2018, again nothing seen by uro). Had CT in there sometime but with nothing showing. When hubby saw his RadOnc about May 2018, RO sad "scarring typical from radiation therapy -- it builds up (heals) & sloughs off. My impression was it would occur after hubby either engaged in intimacy or did lot of heavy work/lifting/hard gym workout. Last instance was very slight end of Dec 2018. Encourage you to check out with your radonc. Good luck!

Hi Ahk1. Here's an odd possibility. Do you exercise? I had what was called "runner's hematuria" several years ago. I don't run, but I do play racquetball and, in those days played a pretty vigorous game. Urine test an hour or so after playing picked up blood-not always, but every once in a while.

Hi herb1,

Yes. I do lift heavy weights. Not very heavy but at the same time heavy for me for about 1 hour, 4 times a week. I am just nervous with everything going on with the PC, I don’t want to miss anything bad if there is. I just called my URO to do a procedure to go check the bladder. Thanks for your comments

Herb,

How did you follow up?

Ahk1-it's been a long time but I think my urologist just did the standard tests, maybe even including a cystoscopic and found nothing. We shrugged and I lived with it. Runner's hematuria is documented, so you and your docs should be able to get some info on it. Hope it's something simple/stupid like this!

I was experiencing some blood in urine and semen, asked my Radiation Oncologist and he said it might be Cystitis and to get it checked by my Urologist (RO is in Calif. and I live in Hawaii). I plan to get a cystoscopy, Urologist is also checking urine and will do an ultrasound.
