Hi All, my first post.....am 72 yrs old...DX 2003 and had the removal of prostate mid year...now on zytiga since Feb this year and Lupron for years...put up with side effects,

the wonderful hot flashes. Have learned to live with all the issues....just glad to be on

this side of the grass...PSA is now 15....will have bone scan next week.

Just feel lucky to be upright and mobile.

Hope you can get a few years out of Zytiga, I did. That's a good start for a long run. Remember every ADT drug works a little differently. So you still have others to fall back on.

i'm just 72and other then not finding zytiga i've been on nothing which has raised my psa. just got a painful lupron/eliguard dropped my psa from 60 to 31. also just took a new drug PROVENGE, its suplose to help my psa but to build up my strength and long dividity

Hello Shadow46,

You've survived 15 years now with cancer. That's doing quite well. I hope you get 15 more.

If your PSA has been rising I suggest asking your doctor about additional treatments. The one that comes to my mind is chemotherapy with docetaxel. As with all the PCa treatments, some men benefit a lot, some get nothing, some handle the side effects easily, some are really hit hard by them. There's still a lot about the treatment for this disease that's a crap shoot.

The reason I'm suggesting this is that all the research seems to indicate that the healthier you are and the less advanced is your diseased, the better the treatments work. As with muggers and vicious dogs, it's easier to beat down a small cancer than a big one. So you want to stay on top of it while it's still small.
