Have your bone mets shrunk? What has your bone alkaline phosphatase done?
Hi Tall I appreciate you input. I have not had a scan since I began Chemo My last scan pre Chemo 4 months ago I was told my Mets were unchanged from the previous scan 6 months prior to that.
My alkaline phosphatase is 112.
Thanks
Some oncologists believe that bone alkaline phosphatase is more informative than PSA for men with bone mets. Was that BONE-specific alkaline phosphatase (for men 50-68 years the reference range is 7.6-14.9 mcg/L)? What are the units? Many would like to see radiographic evidence too before giving up on chemo.
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network has an informative book for physicians that you too can download after registering on their web site nccn.org
On page 24 or the NCCN Guidelines Version 3.2018, Prostate Cancer has a flowchart that provides you and your MO options when Taxotere fails.
You do have options! Good luck, and stay strong.
My PSA rose after the first Chemo treatment and stayed high during the first few. PSA has fallen significantly with subsequent treatments. I think you need to go several more treatments before making any conclusion as to whether the docetaxel is working or not. I have completed 25 and my PSA is down significantly from where I started.
