Hi There,
Does anyone know of a good prostate oncologist in the Houston area? Thanks.
Hi! My oncologist is Dr. Eleni Efstathiou, MD, PhD - she’s at MD Anderson. She is excellent. I live in Atlanta, but travel there to see her.
Hope this helps.

Dr. Paul Corn, I live in GA, and travel every month to see him at MD Anderson... MD is an amazing group of doctors.
My doctor is Zarita at MD Anderson. I’m sure there others in other parts of the country as well as Houston, but you really can’t miss if you go to MD Anderson.
Dr. Ana Aparicio at MD Anderson
We saw dr sumit sudbudhi at mda and will go back. We are in Atlanta. Currently being treated at Winship at emory. Dr sudbudhi said need to finish cycle here first.
Thank you all for taking the time to reply. It means a lot to us. All of you on this site are in our prayers.
Dr. Shih-Ming Tu, also at MDA. I moved to near Houston, partially for MDA access.
Fourteen years ago, I chose not to go to MD Anderson at the Texas Medical Center. Instead I followed a very specific research Medical Oncologist, Robert Amato. At the time he was with Baylor School of Medicine and Methodist. Then he went back to Medical School at the University of Texas and Memorial Hermann. Before I met him, he was at MD Anderson and also the University of Texas. I enrolled in a sic month chemotherapy - hormone trial. The trial is now his standard of care. Unfortunately, he is battling a different cancer, and is not in clinic; just research and his professor duties at this time. Yet, when I go three times a year, I usually see him. His office associates are still using his protocols. (I have posted them in this group along with the results. Or, Google, Gourd Dancer Advanced Prostate Cancer.)
A couple in this group are his patients; Cmdrdata comes readily to mind. I have been most fortunate and my results are atypical. All I know is that in 2004, the numbers said that I had 2-4, maybe 5 years with a PSA of 32.4 and mets to L2 and T3. Today, I am undetectable and stopped Lupron injections in February 2010.
Whomever you choose or wherever you go, my best advice given to me by two Radiation Oncologists when first diagnosed. Find the best Medical Oncologist that specializes in Advanced Prostate Cancer; not one who also desks with other unrelated cancers like, Lung, Pancreas, etc. Preferably one in research. There are some good ones at the Texas Medical Center; including MD Anderson. They all know each other and sit on the same committees, TMC-wide looking for cures and or longevity.
You might go to each institution's web page and read about their Prostate Oncology/Genitourlogical Staff and the great things that they are doing to fight this bastard.
I wish you well and many undetectables.
