4 Month exam today.

Hi everyone had my four month check up today doc said everything is on track PSA is 0.1 almost undetectable,liver enzymes are back to normal cutting down Zytiga to 750 mg. Did the trick. Bone mets give me a little struggle in my pelvis area but doc said the treatments I'm on will address that. All in all it was a very positive visit. I feel better than I have in years hopefully it will stay that way for along time. I know we all face an uncertain future but I thought I'd share a little uplifting news for a change. Great news. Another month to my 4 month check up, but have been busy with there surgeries and phys. ther. in the mean time. Back to work next week. Hope my tests and scans come back as good as yours. Keep up the fight.

Wonderful news, Leo! Congratulations to you!!

I’ve been doing ADT for 3 years now. I got a good report card, too, last month when I went to the Mayo for my post-chemo follow up and regular follow-up with my Jax Mayo MO. PSA still undetectable, Testosterone 7, and other lab numbers are rebounding to normal following the end of my chemo in March. For me those visits are always preceded by a lot of apprehension, and always a big sigh of relief and prayers of thankfulness when my lab work numbers come out good, and my MO likes what he sees.

Always happy to share good news great to hear yours. I'm not on chemo so my results are purely from the Zytiga/Prednisone,and Eligard. Never heard of these words before APC now they are in my vocabulary on a regular basis. Best of luck Leo.

My husband started lupron along with casodex for one

Mine went up too Doc cut my Zytiga down to 750 mg. and they returned to normal. PSA still undetectable.

Did he stop your zytiga while LFTs were elevated. How long did it take for them to return to normal. Or did he decrease dose while levels were up. If so what were the numbers of your LFTs?

He reduced the amount of Zytiga from 1000 mg. To 750 mg. Liver levels were 150 and 160 in one months time have returned to almost normal so Doc says the Zytiga is still working but was the cause if the higher numbers. PSA is still undetecable so he's confident on the new dosage of course blood work done diligently to keep me on track

I’ve been on Lupron or Eligard + bicalutamide (Casodex) continuously since June, 2015. When I discussed the chemo vs Zytiga with my MO, I ended up opting for the chemo for a couple of reasons. The chemo was 6 cycles then you’re done, while the Zytiga is long term. Also, my MO was concerned about Medicare and insurance coverage for me for Zytiga because my PCa is still considered “low volume,” and when the FDA expanded the use of Zytiga for non-castrate resistant guys in 02/2018 it was still limited to hormone sensitive guys at “high risk” for progression. My Gleason was not 8 or above, and I don’t have either visceral metastasis or 3 or more bony lesions (I only have one that no longer lights up the PET scan), so I might not meet FDA requirements for Zytiga at this time. If I don’t, the out-of-pocket cost for Zytiga would be roughly $5000 a month. So, I’ll save the Zytiga for later when I either get worse, or the FDA expands its approval criteria to include us low volume guys.

I’m glad you were able to get the Zytiga therapy. I hope that it, along with the Eligard, keeps your PCa at bay for years!

I agree the Zytiga is expensive but there are advocate groups available out there to help with the cost i know my Doctor hooked me up with them. I guess as long as you're hitting the golf ball your fighting the fight. Best of luck Brotherhood in arms Leo.
