What do you hope for, Mota59? What gives you the most concern right now? What kind of support do you need from others right now as you begin to live with your new reality? ....

These might be some of the more important questions for you to ponder and discuss during the next few months and years.

The other "details" of your medical "stuff" will come to you in due time, as you keep sharing, asking, and learning.

Welcome.

Charles

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I know the feeling as last year I was also surprised as well with a stage 4, Mets, lymph node invasion, PSA over 300. I immediately was put on Lupron injections and did docetaxel chemo then radiation, no surgery. My PSA is now .063. So, early aggressive treatment has dramatically lowered my psa. Chemo went well with no awful side effects. If you do chemo You might consider wearing cold gloves, put feet in ice (supposedly reduces chemo from reaching these areas to prevent peripheral neuropathy) and mouth (to prevent loss of taste). peripheral neuropathy has been the worst side effect for me. Keep your chin up through this as all is not lost.

I feel fortunate that none of our docs gave us a stage or any life expectancy when my husband was diagnosed this past August. As all my friends in the oncology field, and lots on here, will tell you- those stats are old knowledge and the field of oncology is moving forward at lightening speed right now. So much coming soon- hopefully very soon for some. My husband's PSA was also close to 800 when it was finally tested (his wasn't tested til two weeks on bicalutimide after random tissue biopsy during a TURP) so may have been higher. Also with bone and lymph mets. He's on Lupron and did 6 rounds chemo up front. Since he is young and in great shape we are hitting hard to get control fast. Now on Zytiga + prednisone. 8 mos after diagnosis and he feels good- still works out a lot and works his job. This is an amazing site for hope and info. Make sure your wife goes to all doc visits and keeps a notebook of detailed notes and questions. And enjoy each day. ❤

Hello Mota59, it has been 9 months since the diagnosis. My PSA was 1300. Yesterday I visited with an oncologist and PSA of 0.18. Zytiga is working. The truth is that I get well. My age is 51 years old, the truth is that I was very athletic. At this moment this is over and my sport is walking as much as I can. Fight, discipline and think that new advances are going to help us. Good luck

I I thought I was a healthy guy strong went to the gym had good outlook on life went in for a normal annual exam and came back miserable and devastated that's when I was told I had stage 4 prostate cancer PSA count 800 <===<<< from bio

I took the liberty of copying (above) your bio for members to view.

We all had that feeling when we heard the big C word. You will find excellent advice and information on this site. So get off the edge of that flower bed and start seeing a good oncologist that specializes in Pca. BTW, where are you located, and don't say laying down on the edge of that flower bed. Ask questions here and ask if someone can recommend a good oncologist in your area.

Good Luck and Good Health.

The best thing I've done since the bad news is log onto this site, I feel like part of a team that has the same goal, you all have given me hope and the will to fight this parasite, I'm interested in supplements that are specifically formulated to fight pca ,and does anyone know an oncologist that specializes in Pca , BTW (I don't really know what BTW is?) in the Fresno, Ca area ?
