"AGE" & "STAGE"...and maybe date of diagnosis...

me 61, stage 4

wouldn't it be great if everyone started their comments or posts...with their age and stage...so that we can see if they are really "comparable" to us. I know I do research when someone makes a comment ...I go back to all of their posts and try to "glean" their age....so I can see if they are 90 or 40. Age DOES make a difference...I'm hoping to make it to 80...and I want everyone to know (then) that I started at 60 with Stage 4. That will give the 60 year olds HOPE...and give the 80 year old someone to compare against....

~~John

p.s. me and my big white "rooster" back in 2007. He was a JOY!

54, Grade 4, 9/11/17. I'm a virtual rookie! Getting my prostate robo'd out next Thursday but there's cancer on the vesicles that they may not be able to get. I'm a borderline case for robotic surgery apparently. Had to go with a second opinion I have all the confidence in my surgeon, Dr. Porter in Seattle. I'm geard up; have my head on straight and I'm ready to go. Science promised me in the 80s that I'd live to 100 and damn it I am holding them to it. Just finished an hours brisk walk, getting my 5lb weight going and then some bagpiping for the lungs. Fuck Cancer!

I am 63 diagnosed as stage 4 with Gleason 9 in October 2015 at the age of 60. Doctors tirmed "locally advanced" with iliac node involvement.Done TURP as prostectomy. On lupron till last month. Done Orchiectomy two weeks ago. I had done radiation therapy in Jan 2016. Became castration resistant six months ago. Psma pet scan in October 2017 showed spread on paraaortic lymph nodes. Again done radiation for these nodes on Nov 2017. After castration resistance psa jumped from 0.2 to 7 Added zytiga + Prednisone to the treatment. Psa came down, 1.0 last month. I hope I will get many more years to live with the new treatment options!

My spouse: Stage 4A, dx December 2017, age 65. Your post touched me as that’s my hope too. Our son just turned 28 and has a long term girlfriend who I love. I’m going to share your visualization with my Paul because I know our son has dreams of having his Dad around for his wedding and eventual children.

Currently age 68. At diagnosis in May, 2015 (age 65) I was Stage 4, Gleason 7 (4+3) with one metastatic lesion to inferior pubic ramus.

80 sounds good to me. And the closer I get to 80, 90 sounds even better.

I always said, “When my time comes, I want to go peacefully, in my sleep at age 90 like my grandfather...not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.” 😎

I've done a rigorous statistical analysis of obituaries and the results are conclusive; no possible room for error.

59 stage 4 at dx in 2013. Thru all the standard treatments including 2 different chemos. Psa continues to rise now at 200. Liver numbers are also up likely indicating liver involvement now. Scheduled for chest and pelvic ct scans to determine for sure. Months left to enjoy life!!

I just sent a message to an old post of yours...but I'll repeat. I was told about something called "Driver" that is based in San Francisco. They take all of your records and help to find clinical trials that are right for you..and that you qualify for. Google. "Driver cancer trials" and I'm pretty sure they will pop up. ~~ good Luck.

sounds like I am one year behind you. Did you do chemo yet? My petscan afterwards showed all bone Mets (6 or 7 in pelvic area) had disappeared. Of 8 or so lymph nodes...half didn't show up any more and what was left had shrunk close to 50%. I'm hoping to stay on just lupron for a few years....coasting & hoping for better treatments appearing. Good luck !

68 now, one year ago stage 4 Gleason 9/10. PSA jump in the first 6 weeks after rp. 10 pts up. Dr. a bit surprised. Chemo, lupron, xtandi all helped now wait and see with oncologist. Getting cut May 1 to get off lupron.

greatjohn profile image
greatjohn in reply to Shooter1

if you get off lupron...WOW...what a joy ! ! ! it's everyone's dream on here, I'm sure. I'm hating the "castration"...every time I look at my little Sparky(my dog) I feel bad that I had him castrated....now that I know what it feels like...LOL.

I’m 40, stage 4, Dx August 2017. Had a prostatectomy. Started clin trial at NIH but had a anaphylactic reaction to Docetaxel. Still responding well to ADH and PSA is undetectable. Living well but with minimal muscle and joint pain. Really frustrated with side effects of ADH

Dan59 profile image
Dan59 in reply to williamhines

I also had an alergic reaction to Docetaxol, on my first or second one, they stopped the infusion, gave me a bag of benydryl, and restarted docetaxol, in future treatments I got a bag of beydryl as premed every time, I have done 12 docetaxol and 3 jevtana so far, never had another alergic reaction since adding benydryl.

williamhines profile image
williamhines in reply to Dan59

Yeah, they added the benefits and Zantac for the first infusion and premed me for the second but I still had another reaction and the symptoms were more severe so the docs advised that I discontinue Docetaxel, which also excused me from the clinical trial that I was participating in. Oh well, my PSA is undetectable as of now, so that’s good
