Has anyone else had a hot spot in their thyroid along with prostate cancer? Just wondering what type of treatment was given? Half of husbands thyroid removed several years ago.

There is a PCA-Thyroid cancer association: diagnosis of one cancer increases the risk for the other.

One theory is that, since both cancers are over-diagnosed/over-treated, the association is spurious.

But, for reasons I won't get into here, I believe that insufficient iodine may be the link. I use Iodoral.

yes, I've read that once you have "a" cancer, you are 11 times more likely to have another.

Yes, but the prostate/thyroid risk is particulary notable. -Patrick

I had a hot thyroid nodule on a PET scan at the time of my first prostate metastases. Needle biopsy indeterminate so I had a hemithyroidectomy and the thyroid nodule was benign. Lung lesions proved to be prostate cancer and not thyroid so we were led down a blind path. 11 years later my thyroid is fine and my prostate cancer is no longer that but has turned into small cell cancer and become very aggressive.
